The new Octagon high rise apartment block in Birmingham. Tallest building in Birmingham. Here seen from Bradford Street, Deritend.

The Octagon is a 155 m (509 ft) tall, 49-storey residential skyscraper in Birmingham, England. The building is part of the Paradise redevelopment scheme in the city centre and is designed by Glenn Howells Architects. It is currently the tallest building in the city and the tallest octagonal residential skyscraper in the world. Planning started 2020. Built 2022-2025. Due to its unique design, the Octagon has become a landmark building for the city. The tower houses 364 homes, being 1 bed, 2 bed and 3 bed apartments. The visual design of The Octagon mirrors the neighbouring Jewellery Quarter, embodying its historical and contemporary industrial workshops.

It’s 74m taller than the Rotunda, that is 81 metres (266 ft) tall.

It’s 15m taller than the BT tower that is 140 metres (460 ft) tall.

This is Chawn Park field. 2008 when it was council owned, and 2021 when private land owner company owned it after the council sold it off.

Today the land to the right of the path which is on Chawn Park Road is now being sold off plot by plot average £18k. Thus spoiling an area generation of families and children enjoyed. Myself as a kid had a rope swing on the big tree in the middle, a den to the right and bmx track along the edge of the stream and into the wood at the end all made by kids in the 1980s.

The path it self is public and part of Monarchs way so will be protected. It leads to Stourbridge Junction and St Mary’s church.

Not fair the councSuzanne Webb OBEis land and not it’s going to get built on. This happened in Wollaston. This area is bigger.

Lovely spring morning. The daffodils are out and while on a nice walk in the local park I see that the council have allowed the installation of a smoke machine in the local park, must be to give people that early morning misty morning vibe … shame it stinks of diesel fumes. Also the sounds of the birds is drowned out by the diesel generator. Running 24/7 too. At east the birds have a tall 5G mast to perch on to avoid the fumes. LOVELY.

This is a recently installed 5G most powered by a diesel generator in a small shipping container that’s fueled by diesel. Running 24/7 right next to the parks sports field and woodland. Fumes from it belching out over the field and in to the wood. While I was there a few days ago I saw a buzzard in the woods!

Asda .. is your store at Merry Hill haunted ?

Today, so many items* lying on the floor. Have things been flying off the shelves? .. but not towards the tills! I was in the store 30-45mins shopping and none of the items were picked up. Amazingly nothing on the floor in the spirits isle.

I don’t normally shop at ASDA .. normally ALDI and M&S and Tesco and Sainsbury’s… all of which are always tidy and don’t suffer from Poltergeists chucking products on the floors.

*not just products but some POS items.

Also … is the store having a restock issue as so many empty shelves.
