π Two flood alerts have been issued by the Environment Agency
π 1) Flood alert in force: East coast of Dorset
Flooding is possible for: Castletown, Weymouth, Preston Beach, Swanage Bay, Studland Bay, Sandbanks, Poole Harbour, Bournemouth Beach, Hengistbury Head and Christchurch Harbour.
High tides, strong winds and large waves today may lead to flooding.
Flooding is possible from 3:36pm to 7:36pm on 18th December 2025.
Areas most at risk include Preston Beach, Poole Harbour and Christchurch Harbour. The detailed tidal forecast for those who use it is for a peak level at Weymouth and Preston Beach of 1.29m AODN at 5:36PM which is 0.55m above tide tables, with South Westerly force Wind 5 winds. (AODN is height above average sea level).
We are closely monitoring the situation.
Avoid coastal roads, footpaths and carparks, which may be flooded.

π 2) Flood alert in force: Purbeck Rivers and Streams
Flooding is possible in the Corfe Castle and Swanage areas.
High river levels today may lead to flooding - flooding is possible on 18th December 2025.
Areas most at risk include the Corfe Castle and Swanage areas. Further flooding is possible throughout the afternoon as river levels continue to react to rainfall. Rainfall is expected to continue throughout the afternoon and into this evening.
We are monitoring rainfall and river levels.
Take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water.
