ADHD waiting mode is something so many people experience but don’t realise has a name.

That feeling when you have an appointment, a plan, or something happening later… and your brain feels like it can’t start anything else.

You’re not being lazy. Your brain is trying to keep track of what’s coming next.

Do you get stuck in waiting mode too?

Hi i am writing a post about ADHD and unexpected visitors. What is your first honest reaction when someone turns up without it being pre planned?

Ever spent 20 minutes looking for your phone... only to realise it was in your hand the whole time? 🤦‍♀️

ADHD brains really do keep life interesting!

What's the funniest thing you've spent ages looking for?

Does anyone else experience this?
People often think ADHD noise sensitivity is just about not liking loud sounds. For me, it's much more than that. My brain struggles to filter out background noise, so everything competes for my attention at once.
It can be overwhelming, exhausting, and sometimes even physically painful.
If you've ever needed to leave a room, wear earplugs, or sit in silence just to recover, you're not alone.
Does this happen to you too?

Does one appointment completely take over your day?

I used to think everyone did this.

A dentist appointment at 3pm? My brain would decide I couldn't start anything until after it was over. Before I knew it, the whole day had disappeared.

Learning about ADHD waiting mode made me realise I wasn't lazy or bad at managing my time. My brain was simply finding it hard to switch focus away from the upcoming event.

Does this happen to you too?

Does noise ever feel like too much for you?

Not just annoying… but overwhelming?

A hand dryer. A fire alarm. Someone tapping, humming, or repeating the same sound.

For some of us with ADHD, it isn't about being "sensitive" — it's about our brains struggling to filter what matters and what doesn't.

I’ve just written about ADHD noise sensitivity and the sounds that affect me most.

I’d love to know…

What everyday sound instantly overwhelms you?
