Despite what turned out to be a 6 hour journey through floods and traffic chaos our visit to North Wales and Mercia’s Lamb Show at the English Winter Fair was a great success. Beautiful sheep and friendly competition.

Lambs leant to nervous handlers ready for the Rare Breeds Survival Trust’s Young Shepherd competition - ooh and I knew just how they felt!! Dexter Martin achieving Reserve champion in the junior section. Matilda wanted a feisty lamb so we were happy to oblige also getting in the rosettes!

Our thanks to Michelle and the RFBS North Wales & Mercia Region for a really well organised and enjoyable event. The replica trophy which we can keep is such a lovely idea!

Joshua Brigg had a monster task judging both Coloured and Ryelands which he made look effortless, thank you.

Hard to think we are only 2 months away from starting all over again!!

Enjoyable although a little wet and muddy Dorset County Show. Many thanks to our judge Ann Swankie for judging both the Ryeland and Coloured Ryeland classes and for her time and excellent feedback at the pens afterwards.

Really chuffed to go on to win Interbreed Champion Group of Three 🏆

Now to get the rams in with the ewes to produce some 2025 Windsor lambs😂😁

After a 3am alarm and a fair drive we had an outstanding day at the Coloured Ryeland 2024 National Show at Tenbury-Wells!

Thank you to our judge Simon Donovan for undertaking such a mammoth task; to Ann Swankie for organising everyone and keeping the classes running on time – no easy task; to the RFBS Committee and all involved in putting together our National Show; lastly, to those responsible for such a lovely lunch😊.

Congratulations to all and particularly to Brodie Summerfield, Ashley Moor Hall flock for taking overall Champion

Honiton Show was H🥵T but we all took it in our stride. Shaded the sheep and kept a little for ourselves. A good old natter and some lovely treats from our respective vets and of course CMC!

Fabulous turn out of Ryelands but the Coloureds were sadly somewhat thin on the ground due to circumstances and heat.

Thank you to our judges Tom Evans and Jonathan Webb (thank you for standing in at the last minute) who both looked very cool and collected despite the heat and task. Our newbie stewards were excellent too - thank you Caroline and Robert.
