I’ve been genuinely blown away by the response to my short film, The Forest. 🌲

Filmed at Forest Holidays in the Forest of Dean, the film explores our changing relationship with the natural world as extreme heat and prolonged heatwaves become increasingly common across the UK.

Against the beauty of the forest, it reflects on the realities of a changing climate, what that could mean for the places and experiences we have long taken for granted, and why protecting them matters.

The film also represents an important step in my own journey as a filmmaker, moving further into narrative, environmental and cinematic storytelling.

My hope is that The Forest eventually reaches some of the organisations already doing vital work for our planet. Put simply, I would love the opportunity to create films that help tell their stories and support their work.

A few of the organisations that continually inspire me include One Tree Planted, through whom I plant ten trees for every film I produce, alongside Greenpeace UK, Woodland Trust, Forestry England, Visit England, Forest and many more.

What happens when the weather begins to dictate where we can go, what we can do and how long we can stay?

The Forest is a short passion project filmed during a heatwave in the Forest of Dean. What began as a visit to one of the UK’s most beautiful landscapes became a film about our changing relationship with nature and the growing reality of climate change on our doorstep.

This film represents the direction I want Sky Forest Films to keep moving towards: thoughtful, cinematic storytelling centred around nature, conservation, sustainability and positive change.

Ten trees have also been planted to mark the release. It’s a small step, but an important part of building a more environmentally conscious film production business.
