I've been in hospital with opioid withdrawal and immense pain, whilst battling broken systems over the past 3 days, after American Airlines lost my bag with all medications and consistently made error after error.

I will be reflecting on this more once I've recovered back in the UK and spoken to the travel planners of World Accessible Holidays about everything, and the lessons we can share with others to try minimising any chance of someone experiencing the horror that I just have.

The lack of interest, concern, support and correct procedures by American Airlines is disgusting and worrying, especially in current times and for those with disabilities and/or chronic conditions.

I'm certainly not suggesting I didn't make mistakes, like not having any spare meds in my hand luggage just in case, but equally when things do go wrong, the support provided should be swift and dependable!

Certainly not putting someone through the hell I've just experienced and making matters so much worse, it creates real and serious risks to someone's health.

For now, I'm just thankful to Paula and Steve at World Accessible Holidays, alongside Keith at Quantum Rehab US, for all their support and without who, I wouldve been in a serious condition and alone in a US hospital.

However, I am mortified about not being able to visit and meet wounded US Veterans whilst here, it was one of my main aims and something very personal to me as a British Army Veteran, but that just shows how ill I've been, to not even be able to achieve something so important and personal to me!

But, this won't stop me, and has only made me more determined to grow adaptive all-terrain adventure and connect the great work being done in the US and UK, making outdoor adventures accessible for disabled people and wounded veterans.

From highs of speaking in the US, to lows of travelling alone with chronic conditions, but this is about enabling others to access outdoors

I'm in Chicago, with my 50at50 and it's been an incredible start to the USA leg, where I spoke on Adaptive Outdoor Adventures at the Abilities Expo

Thankfully my chair survived the flight out and I wasn't totally broken by it either, but 12hrs of travel has taken a toll, I'm sure the full impact will be felt when I'm finally home, however for now I'm relishing every moment, experience and interaction, thanks to World Accessible Holidays.

Mother Nature welcomed me on my first night with severe storms, tornado warnings, emergency government broadcasts on my phone and lightning, the likes of which I've never experienced before and the one pictured was so close, it sounded like a 500lb JDam bomb had been dropped. Just WOW!

I spoke twice over the weekend Expo,
The Mountain Inside of Me: Focused on my solo ascent of Yr Wyddfa using the incredible RockClimber all-terrain prototype powerchair and the journey I went on mentally, adapting to my new world of being a wheelchair user and my continually declining spinal condition.

Adaptive Outdoor Adventure: Looking at barriers to people accessing the outdoors, what equipment and opportunities are available such as; Exotek - Reinventing freedom with their Exoquad, Trackchair and Bowhead, and where I see it going with the right development, investment and support.

Today I travel to Scranton, Pennsylvania, where I'll be hosted by Quantum Rehab for a busy week of,
❇️ Looking around their production site, speaking to the R&D team about all-terrain chairs and batteries, before meeting the corporate team

❇️ Visiting wounded veterans and Patriots Cove outdoor activity centre providing all-terrain powerchairs, enabling visitors to access the outdoors and take part in a greater range of activities.

I've found 33 National Parks across the US providing access to all-terrain powerchairs, with joystick control, and it's what I'm trying to achieve with 50at50; raising £150k to buy Outback chairs by Quantum Rehab UK and donate them to; Calvert Devon / Delapré Abbey / Stanwick Lakes / and National Trust - East of England / National Trust in the Midlands and National Trust Lake District for people to use.

I'm looking for businesses in Northamptonshire who'd be interested in sponsoring one of the two chairs coming to our county, and encourage you to arrange an initial chat with me about this on,
[email protected]

For more details visit my website, link in comments, and I'll update you with progress mid-week. Thanks for all your continued support.
