5 things I’ve learned since launching my first business in 2020: 💡

🥸 It’s okay to say no. At the start, I said yes to everything ❌ but sometimes the client isn’t the right match, and sometimes I’m not the right match for the client. And that’s okay.

😵‍💫 Burnout is VERY real. Finding the balance can be difficult & I’m still learning how to 🤎

🥲 Look back as much as you look forward. Big goals are exciting, but pause sometimes, reflect on how far you’ve come, and don’t be hard on yourself, you’re doing great!

🫡 Authenticity wins. Find your own feet, your own style, and your own way of doing things. It took me a long time to really work out what I wanted to be 📸

🤗 Collaboration over competition. There’s enough work for everyone.

It’s time to reintroduce 🖤

I’m Gemma - hi 👋🏽

I have 2 businesses, something not everybody knows.

1. - my main job, in which I offer a range of services such as content days & content school. Working in marketing for many years after I left uni, I ventured into self employment in 2021 working with tons of incredible small businesses along the way.

2. - my side hustle, that actually came first. When employed within marketing for a company, I set up Braw, a spray tan biz because it was something I was always keen to do but thought it was a bit random… but when lockdown hit and it was a weird time, I decided to give it a bash.

Hence why I now have the both of them 🤪

But I also have Hype Club - a podcast dedicated to hyping up small businesses, charities and those that deserve the spotlight. Available to listen to on Spotify & watch on YouTube. Each week a new guest comes on to chat about their story - currently 3 seasons 👀 go listen & SHARE THE HYPE!

I’m also a dog mom to wee King - our German short haired pointer who is our whole world, maybe a crazy dog mom… 🥹

Now officially open on Cross Arthurlie Street in Barrhead. Fiona has well and truly put her heart and soul into this shop & it is incredible!
