Phantasy Record Label, London. Founded in London in 2007, Phantasy has steadily transformed into one of the UK’s most diverse and artistically ambitious labels.

Erol Alkan, Daniel Avery, Beyond The Wizards Sleeve, Nadia Ksaiba, Gabe Gurnsey, C.Y.M., Chicken Lips, Late of The Pier, Ghost Culture, Connan Mockasin, James Welsh, Future Four, Red Axes, Cowboy Rhythmbox, Terr, Wilted Woman & more. Neither rooted in electronic or alternative music, Phantasy small but expanding stable of artists work closely with founder and creative director Erol Alkan, to achieve the best possible sound and vision for a diverse audience. All Phantasy releases are pressed on vinyl as well as released digitally. While always defying definition, a contemporary psychedelic streak binds together Phantasy’s unique roster. Since his debut album, ‘Drone Logic’, Daniel Avery has found a devoted and international audience for his initially against-the-grain blend of subtle electronica and captivating dancefloor moments. Helping to define a new era of acid house and techno, the recent ‘New Energy [Collected Remixes] captures his influence on dance music at large, with contributions from Perc, Roman Flugel, Special Request and more. New Zealander Connan Mockasin also found the perfect home on Phantasy for his offbeat and visionary psych-pop, most recently seeing his sophomore album ‘Caramel’ gain huge critical acclaim, while his stunning debut, ‘Forever Dolphin Love’, was celebrated as Recordstore’s album of the year in 2012. Having released his self titled debut LP, the similarly singular Ghost Culture blends driving, experimental electronics with a classic singer-songwriter sensibility, earning it a place as Rough Trade’s first album of the month of 2015. Based in Brazil, Babe Terror specialises in otherworldly beats and absorbing lo-fi, while occasional collaborator, the mysterious U, does much the same with a fractured, British rave aesthetic. Phantasy’s latest signing, Kamera, has since delivered ARC, a frosty and fully formed EP that seamlessly joins the dots between Berlin club culture and captivating, overwhelming drone. Meanwhile, solo singles from The Chemical Brothers’ Tom Rowlands, cult pianist Gonzales and Late of the Pier compliment the music of Erol Alkan himself, whose much anticipated EP, ‘Illumination’, has been his only solo release thus far. http://www.phantasysound.co.uk

NYC duo Fundido and LA-via-Milan artist Nieri debut on Phantasy with a new two-track single, ‘Nuova Persona’, available today to stream and download, and to pre-order as a limited four-track 12”, featuring forthcoming remixes from Budino and Justin Strauss - see the last two slides for previews of those.

Driven by a pulsing bassline, ‘Nuova Persona (Club Mix)’ arrives after regular tests in recent DJ sets of Phantasy founder, Erol Alkan. Pleasingly quintessential to the label’s sound, the Club Mix’s sharper edges blur into dreamier territory, opening up the night with rapturous calls to ecstasy, alongside Nieri’s observations on the rituals and contradictions of modern life — “Protein shake for breakfast, before I hit the gym / Statistics, logistics, is this really all there is?”

Fundido’s alternate ‘Bliss Mix’ lowers the tempo of ‘Nuova Persona’, jacking up the sensuality, relocating Nieri in the centre of sublime NYC house, where swinging percussion and flipped jazz keys orchestrate a smooth subversion.

Richard Sen debuts on Phantasy with ‘Space 1999 / Bergen Light Rail’, the first transmission from the illustrious DJ and producer since his vinyl-only solo LP, 2024’s ‘India Man’.

A soaring two-track single with early support from DJ Harvey, ALFOS and Ben UFO, PH156 quietly arrives ahead of schedule on Bandcamp and the Phantasy Store (link in bio) one week before general release, across two limited 12” editions, one of which includes 100 signed prints of Richard’s hand-painted cover artwork, created with a blend of traditional styles and textural graffiti techniques.

‘Space 1999’ is a future-facing deep house journey, paying tribute to an influential slice of London nightlife history; Space at Bar Rhumba, led by Luke Solomon and Kenny Hawes. Taking hold of dancers for no less than ten minutes, its powerful bass lines, swinging drums and an intergalactic melody lead to pure satisfaction. On the flip, ‘Bergen Light Rail’ embraces a different kind of cosmic, conjuring a space-disco jam rich in heavenly synths and tightly-wound arpeggiators - a message from the stars that’s a deeply human call to dance.

This week marks four years since RUBY GOON landed their debut album on Phantasy, with ‘Brand New Power.’

‘Brand New Power’, the debut album from Ruby Goon, is out now on Phantasy, pressed onto vinyl and CD.

Phantasy has always found its artist family in unexpected corners of the world, and the music of Ruby Goon is no exception. The label’s latest signing unexpectedly emerges from a previously bustling underground of live music in Moscow, formed and led by Ivan Solimani-Leznhev, a strikingly independent and self-determined young singer-songwriter. Colourful and vulnerable, the music of Ruby Goon soulfully blends early psychedelia, glam and indie rock.

‘Brand New Power’, the debut album from Ruby Goon, collects these early works into an impressive volume that documents a body of warm-hearted, mature songwriting blessed with the sort of youthful energy that’s difficult to recapture and impossible to resist; that ‘Brand New Power’ that gives the album its title.

Ruby Goon initially came into contact with Phantasy courtesy of the music of Connan Mockasin, an influence on Solimani-Leznhev, and certainly ‘Brand New Power’ reconnects Erol Alkan’s imprint with a specific strain of outsider music.
