Phantasy

Phantasy Record Label, London. Founded in London in 2007, Phantasy has steadily transformed into one of the UK’s most diverse and artistically ambitious labels.

Erol Alkan, Daniel Avery, Beyond The Wizards Sleeve, Nadia Ksaiba, Gabe Gurnsey, C.Y.M., Chicken Lips, Late of The Pier, Ghost Culture, Connan Mockasin, James Welsh, Future Four, Red Axes, Cowboy Rhythmbox, Terr, Wilted Woman & more. Neither rooted in electronic or alternative music, Phantasy small but expanding stable of artists work closely with founder and creative director Erol Alkan, to achie

ve the best possible sound and vision for a diverse audience. All Phantasy releases are pressed on vinyl as well as released digitally. While always defying definition, a contemporary psychedelic streak binds together Phantasy’s unique roster. Since his debut album, ‘Drone Logic’, Daniel Avery has found a devoted and international audience for his initially against-the-grain blend of subtle electronica and captivating dancefloor moments. Helping to define a new era of acid house and techno, the recent ‘New Energy [Collected Remixes] captures his influence on dance music at large, with contributions from Perc, Roman Flugel, Special Request and more. New Zealander Connan Mockasin also found the perfect home on Phantasy for his offbeat and visionary psych-pop, most recently seeing his sophomore album ‘Caramel’ gain huge critical acclaim, while his stunning debut, ‘Forever Dolphin Love’, was celebrated as Recordstore’s album of the year in 2012. Having released his self titled debut LP, the similarly singular Ghost Culture blends driving, experimental electronics with a classic singer-songwriter sensibility, earning it a place as Rough Trade’s first album of the month of 2015. Based in Brazil, Babe Terror specialises in otherworldly beats and absorbing lo-fi, while occasional collaborator, the mysterious U, does much the same with a fractured, British rave aesthetic. Phantasy’s latest signing, Kamera, has since delivered ARC, a frosty and fully formed EP that seamlessly joins the dots between Berlin club culture and captivating, overwhelming drone. Meanwhile, solo singles from The Chemical Brothers’ Tom Rowlands, cult pianist Gonzales and Late of the Pier compliment the music of Erol Alkan himself, whose much anticipated EP, ‘Illumination’, has been his only solo release thus far. http://www.phantasysound.co.uk

As a member of W.H. Lung [ ], Tom Sharkett has provided electronics for one of the best bands in the UK, including on their most recent, critically acclaimed LP, ‘Every Inch of Earth Pulsates’. These DIY, indie-oriented experimentations have slowly led Sharkett to unexpected places as a solo artist in club culture, via the portal of Manchester’s legendary venue, The White Hotel [ ] where he was inspired by inspired by cult nights such as Red Lazer and Wet Play, Sharkett has since collaborated with artists such as System Olympia and Raf Rundell, as well as appearing on Optimo Music [ ] and Okay Nature Records. His subtle, spirited edit of LCD Soundsystem’s ‘Home’ [ ] released as a bootleg in early 2025, has recently re-emerged on DFA Records as an official release, just in time to become an unusual wistful summer anthem.

Sharkett captures this fruitful moment in a contribution to Phantasy’s long-running mix series, which features a smattering of currently unreleased material, while bridging Cabaret Voltaire, Slowdive, Eden Burns and even Chappel Roan. True to the eclectic philosophy of Sharkett’s DJ and production trip so far, PHANTASYMIX 53 is a rare trip.

Following his headturning two tracker on Phantasy, ‘Careless Drifter/Basic Foundation’, Ewan McVicar takes to Beatportal to reveal some of the most effective, sometimes unappreciated bangers in his record collection. Digging from the origins of his sound in residency at Glasgow’s beloved Sub Club, to his new Ibiza party curated with Man Power, OFF BRAND at Akasha, these 10 off-kilter club cuts are, in Ewan’s own words, perfect for “throwing it down to throwing it up, Chicago royalty to German precision… inspirations that have brought me to this point”. Get stuck in at the link in bio.

Factory’s Floor’s ‘Tell Me’ is out now on Phantasy.

Recorded soon after their sell-out UK tour earlier in 2025, and with the studio assistance of Stephen Morris of New Order and James Greenwood, ‘Tell Me’ locks into a hypnotic funk groove that continues to exemplify the band’s unique, forward-thinking alchemy between genre, scenes, human, and machine.

‘Tell Me’ arrives digitally and on limited 12” vinyl limited to just 375 copies, housed in a riso-print sleeve, backed with an extended mix for dance floor play. A limited Rough Trade exclusive vinyl edition of just 150 copies featuring an alternate sleeve is also available. Pre-order now from the Phantasy store and Bandcamp.

Looking for trouble? You’ve found it. Josh Caffe’s nocturnal masterpiece ‘Poppa Zesque’, originally released on Phantasy in 2023, now arrives on very limited-edition cassette. Featuring ‘Do You Want To Take Me Home’, ‘According to Jacqueline’ and ‘Meine Lederjeans (ft. Al White)’, alongside other dispatches from the night, Caffe’s hedonistic alter ego sounds raw and seductive across both sides. And remember; no pleasure should remain guilty. Order now from the Phantasy store or Bandcamp, while stocks last, or listen to Poppa Zesque wherever you stream music. Link in bio. Limited to just 25 copies.

“Poppa Zesque will forever be a part of this musical journey I’m on, so having this album immortalized in this format cements its place even more. This one is dedicated to all the sleazebags, straight from the groin, with love” - Josh Caffe

Phantasy’s long-running mix series continues apace with a contribution from a key figure in London’s electronic and alternative underground, Casper Clark. Perhaps best known under his former Volte-Face alias, this wide-ranging hour finds Clark reigniting his fundamentally eclectic sensibility, seamlessly blending records from Black Merlin, Idjut Boys and The Parallax Corporation, spanning twenty-five years of music at the authentic margins.

Casper’s mix is available to stream now from Apple Music and on Soundcloud, alongside dozens of mixes from the label archive.

“I started DJing nearly 20 years ago, at least partially inspired by the way Erol used to play at Trash and later Bugged Out and beyond. I was lucky enough to book him over the years at our Adventures In The Beetroot Field parties as well as Field Day and even the Lock Tavern, which I used to programme back then. As I drifted more towards exploring techno under my Volte-Face moniker our paths diverged somewhat, and a few years went by when I didn’t bump into him or see him play all that often. So this mix feels like a homecoming of sorts, and an expression of a rekindled musical freedom and a cherished friendship. I even managed to squeeze in a track by Tiga, who was another formative influence for me. I hope it’s as fun to listen to the mix as it was to make it.” - Casper Clark

Phantasy are thrilled to welcome Boys’ Shorts to the label with a new EP, ‘Athena’.

Exploring the charismatic strains of house, disco and Italo that the Greek duo have become increasingly beloved for across the q***r and alternative club underground, this diverse three-track release also features a vocal collaboration with fellow DJ and friend Budino, performing alongside Elisa Paradiso.

From their bittersweet but bouncing link-up ‘Summer’s Here (and Summer’s Missing)’, the steamy oscillations of ‘Stereo on Acid’, through to the grandiose, trance-inducing title track, ‘Athena’ arrives perfectly timed for the heat and sensuality of this season’s dancefloors and beyond. Available to stream everywhere now, or forthcoming on limited-edition 12” vinyl with full printed sleeve, available to pre-order now from the Phantasy store or Bandcamp.

Visionary producer and one half of The Chemical Brothers, Tom Rowlands returns to Phantasy with ‘We Are Nothing / All Night’. The first solo dancefloor material since his last appearance on the label in 2013, both tracks are streaming now on all platforms and available to pre-order on 12” vinyl from Bandcamp or direct from the Phantasy shop.

Heavily road-tested across the world in Chemical Brothers DJ sets, ‘We Are Nothing’ trips through a decades-long obsession and subversion of house music and psychedelia alike. Built around a sample of Canadian outsider artist and poet Bill Bissett, acid catharsis is peppered with snatches of soul, analogue freakouts and all-encompassing groove.

‘All Night’ delivers a different, unexpected rhythm, finding Rowlands deviating to a searing tempo, embracing the analogue experimentation at the heart of his work, as well as electronic music’s willingness to barrel ever-forward; the result is a worthy head spinner from both label and artist alike.

Tom Rowlands will play a rare solo DJ set at Glastonbury's Stonebridge Bar on Friday 27th June, as part of Bugged Out's 30th Anniversary celebrations.

With character and a refreshing light-heartedness, DJ City has built a strong following on European dancefloors over the last few years. Drawing from both old school Chicago, Italo, and contemporary producers, he playfully navigates the elements that make up a well-constructed dance floor. After a string of releases on labels such as Public Possession, he now also runs BAD DAD, his own party in Berlin, within which he cultivates, experiments, and plays around with the fundamentals of what it is to be a DJ. For the 51st edition of PHANTASYMIX, he's on hand to present a contemporary but classic vista of the timeless four-to-the-floor sound:

"There’s a lot happening in house music at the moment so I wanted to focus on recent releases for this mix. At the same time, you’ll hear a lot of grooves and moods that you'll instantly recognize and be familiar with. I love how House music always is referencing and pointing back in history. It constructs narratives and relationships that span time and space, something that feels extra important to me right now." DJ City
