Phantasy

Phantasy Record Label, London. Founded in London in 2007, Phantasy has steadily transformed into one of the UK’s most diverse and artistically ambitious labels.

Erol Alkan, Daniel Avery, Beyond The Wizards Sleeve, Nadia Ksaiba, Gabe Gurnsey, C.Y.M., Chicken Lips, Late of The Pier, Ghost Culture, Connan Mockasin, James Welsh, Future Four, Red Axes, Cowboy Rhythmbox, Terr, Wilted Woman & more. Neither rooted in electronic or alternative music, Phantasy small but expanding stable of artists work closely with founder and creative director Erol Alkan, to achie

ve the best possible sound and vision for a diverse audience. All Phantasy releases are pressed on vinyl as well as released digitally. While always defying definition, a contemporary psychedelic streak binds together Phantasy’s unique roster. Since his debut album, ‘Drone Logic’, Daniel Avery has found a devoted and international audience for his initially against-the-grain blend of subtle electronica and captivating dancefloor moments. Helping to define a new era of acid house and techno, the recent ‘New Energy [Collected Remixes] captures his influence on dance music at large, with contributions from Perc, Roman Flugel, Special Request and more. New Zealander Connan Mockasin also found the perfect home on Phantasy for his offbeat and visionary psych-pop, most recently seeing his sophomore album ‘Caramel’ gain huge critical acclaim, while his stunning debut, ‘Forever Dolphin Love’, was celebrated as Recordstore’s album of the year in 2012. Having released his self titled debut LP, the similarly singular Ghost Culture blends driving, experimental electronics with a classic singer-songwriter sensibility, earning it a place as Rough Trade’s first album of the month of 2015. Based in Brazil, Babe Terror specialises in otherworldly beats and absorbing lo-fi, while occasional collaborator, the mysterious U, does much the same with a fractured, British rave aesthetic. Phantasy’s latest signing, Kamera, has since delivered ARC, a frosty and fully formed EP that seamlessly joins the dots between Berlin club culture and captivating, overwhelming drone. Meanwhile, solo singles from The Chemical Brothers’ Tom Rowlands, cult pianist Gonzales and Late of the Pier compliment the music of Erol Alkan himself, whose much anticipated EP, ‘Illumination’, has been his only solo release thus far. http://www.phantasysound.co.uk

Congratulations to , who we are pleased to announce as the lucky winner of the original test pressing of Tom Rowlands’ ‘We Are Nothing / All Night’. Nice shirt for the occasion, too.

Having spent years being heavily road-tested by The Chemical Brothers, PH144 is now being repressed onto limited-edition clear vinyl alongside its equally propulsive younger sibling, 2013’s ‘Through Me/ Nothing But Pleasure’. Both are now available to pre-order on Phantasy Store and Bandcamp and will arrive in record stores shortly. Head to the link in the bio to guarantee these records for your collection.

A Phantasy T-shirt from our friends and dreamers in the Talking Drums goon squad, the beloved crew’s design is “based on the idea of a fantasy record dig”, translating our beloved ‘sensational spelling’ to any number of phantastic song titles through musical history. Totally incorrect, yet oh so right all over, “a design and concept made in ph/fantasy land”.

Fulfil your fantasy now and pre-order Phantasy (Various), ethically printed on 100% cotton and packed in bio-degradable bags, across all sizes.

You can also revisit Talking Drums contribution to the Phantasy mix series, the ideal sonic accompaniment for your new threads.

Straight out of Staffordshire, and into the rave, Future Four debuted on Phantasy in 2013, reimagining the analogue absurdity, sonic diversity and imagination of the early 90s dance music landscape. Initially a solo project of Andy Meecham, the brains behind Emperor Machine, Chicken Lips, and Bizarre Inc, F4 today celebrates a dozen years of just what’s possible with an MPC, floppy discs and a wide-eyed dance floor.

Find EP1 alongside a trio of remixes on Bandcamp, including a huge rework of ‘Into Orbit’ by Dark Circles, a track which closed many of Andrew Weatherall sets around this time.

As a member of W.H. Lung [ ], Tom Sharkett has provided electronics for one of the best bands in the UK, including on their most recent, critically acclaimed LP, ‘Every Inch of Earth Pulsates’. These DIY, indie-oriented experimentations have slowly led Sharkett to unexpected places as a solo artist in club culture, via the portal of Manchester’s legendary venue, The White Hotel [ ] where he was inspired by inspired by cult nights such as Red Lazer and Wet Play, Sharkett has since collaborated with artists such as System Olympia and Raf Rundell, as well as appearing on Optimo Music [ ] and Okay Nature Records. His subtle, spirited edit of LCD Soundsystem’s ‘Home’ [ ] released as a bootleg in early 2025, has recently re-emerged on DFA Records as an official release, just in time to become an unusual wistful summer anthem.

Sharkett captures this fruitful moment in a contribution to Phantasy’s long-running mix series, which features a smattering of currently unreleased material, while bridging Cabaret Voltaire, Slowdive, Eden Burns and even Chappel Roan. True to the eclectic philosophy of Sharkett’s DJ and production trip so far, PHANTASYMIX 53 is a rare trip.
