We've been having some unforeseen technical difficulties behind the scenes with our editing software, and so the Local Showcase recording has been delayed. We are truly sorry for not having the recording uploaded yet - our team of volunteers have been working hard to edit everything together, but the software is snagging when we try to export it. As soon as we've figured out / solved the issues the Local Showcase will be available on YouTube. Thank you for sticking with us we really appreciate it.

We'd like to take a final opportunity to thank all of the incredible sponsors that helped to make Buntingford Shorts 2026 a reality. Without their support we would not be able to run the festival.

On Sunday our attention turned to the international stage via YouTube. The recording is still available until mid-May so catch it whilst you can!

After a record-breaking number of entries, the committee whittled the films down to the final 3 in each category.
Our team of Buntingford Shorts alumni judges: Radheya Jang, Daniel Kolotov and Christian Attree went on to decide the winners and provide feedback to each of the films. This proved to be a super valuable experience for the finalists.
The winning films all received prizes of £75, donated by our team of local sponsors.

Animation – Ace directed by F***y Capu
Comedy – The Act directed by Nicola Florin
Documentary – Everything is Waves directed by Cris Saavedra
Drama – Shchedryk directed by Daria Artuskova
Horror – Fish directed by Ivan Kukushkin
Music and Sound – Remanence directed by Elsa Audevart
Next year Buntingford Shorts 10 and to celebrate we have some extra special events lined up… stay tuned for details!

Saturday saw the return of our local showcase, with the biggest audience we’ve had to date!

We thoroughly enjoyed sharing 7 unique creations, hearing the judges’ (James Farrell, Saphron Barley and Louis Holder) thoughts on each film and seeing all of the creations on the big screen!

This year’s local winners were…
1st - Bingo by Joshua Mitchell
2nd - Arash the Archer by Shaghayegh Nozari
3rd - How to: Sleep by Eli Thompson and George Tucker .thompson___

The local event has been recorded and will be available to catch up on within a couple of weeks via YouTube.

Next year Buntingford Shorts will turn 10! Stay tuned for more information on what we have planned…
