WELCOME HOME HMS ST ALBANS

Plymouth's famous waterfront witnessed a spectacle that is old as time, and its special relationship with the Royal Navy. HMS StAlbans made a grand home coming with a spectacular 11 gun salute that blasted out across the Hoe foreshore this morning.

As the Duke-class frigate passed the Belvedere Monument the crew were proudly manning the rails - and another great navy tradition.

The return of the St Albans created a spike of viewers on our live we**am to watch the ship passing the Hoe seafront.

The Plymouth based frigate has spent nearly 150 days, and 30,000 miles, on operations in the North Atlantic, Norwegian Sea, and Arctic Ocean conducting anti-submarine patrol duties in protection of the Continuous At Sea Deterrent, and patrolling in home waters and the Channel.

The St Albans was inbound to HM Naval Base Devonport where the crew will be met by families and loved ones. (More images will follow on our website).
