Tiger often spoke about the constant need to adapt to the feels and patterns of the day.

His words mirror Bob Toski’s famous line:

“Everyone who plays golf wakes up every day and has to figure out how to play all over again…”

“Great champions simply figure it out each day faster than the other players”

Do you find this to be the case in your game?

Rory’s take here: prioritise your attitude over the outcome.

In life, just like in golf, keeping a positive attitude can significantly improve your performance.

So, focus on maintaining a positive mindset; it often shapes the outcome more than you realize.

Tension leads to tightness in the grip 😰🏌️‍♂️

And when the club is gripped too tightly, the most affected part of the swing is the release.

This is why you’ll often see golfers miss it right under pressure: they are unable to release their hands leaving the club face open! 👉

Being aware of grip pressure in stressful circumstances is key 🔑

Tiger and many other great athletes talk about ‘blackout moments’ or ‘flow state’!🏌️‍♂️👀

When you enter this frame of mind, you are fully focused on the task at hand.

For many, it’s when performance is at its peak.

But being present is easier said than done. Many amateurs struggle to stay out of their own way on the course!

Being present is therefore an approach that golfers must learn and manage.

How often do you get a perfect lie? 🤔

As a junior, my coach made me hit off of muddy lies where old divots had been taken 🏌️‍♂️

It felt like the ball was on a tee when I moved it back on the grass 😍

We get all sorts of lies on the course, so mixing up your lies in practice is a great way to improve your skills and adapt to course conditions!

A simple method to help judge distance in windy conditions 💨🏌️‍♂️

To illustrate:

If you face a 10mph headwind on a 100-yard shot, you should consider it a 110-yard shot.

For a 10 mph tailwind on a 100-yard shot, it should be adjusted to 95 yards.

Many amateurs fail to account for changes in elevation! ⛰️⛳️

While not an exact science, the general rule of thumb to add/subtract 1 yard for every 1 yard of elevation change will give you a rough idea of how far the ball will travel 🏌️‍♂️
