Fantastic New Eps from Soul4Real
Reserva Especial – Sound Stage 7 and Seventy Seven is dedicated to John Richbourg’s iconic labels. Featuring the main man Joe Simon with “Help Yourself “ and the late great and sadly-missed Ann S*xton with the immortal “Colour My World Blue”, both previously only available on albums and now available for the first time on 7”. Completing the EP are two originally unreleased tracks: Roscoe Shelton’s well-known Northern Soul classic "You’re the Dream", a huge tune from Stafford’s Top of The World nights, and another Southern Soul gem, “I’ll Meet You” by Geater Davis, an immense beat ballad released on 7” vinyl for the first time.

Reserva Especial - Muscle Shoals Sound focuses on that legendary recording studio. It features four previously unreleased tracks: two by the wonderful Katie Love, an incredible version of Phillip Mitchell’s “The World Needs More People Like You”, and the sassy “Victim Of My Man. Then there’s a superb take of "Hitch Hike to Heartbreak Road" by Curtis Wiggins. To round up this excursion through Malaco’s tape shelves is an exquisite song from Sandra Wright’s lost session at the studio, written by George Jackson and recorded in January 1978—proof that the magic was still alive.

Two Great New Limited Edition EPs from Soul4Real
The SAR EP shines a spotlight on the Womack family, initially known as The Womack Brothers before transitioning into R&B as The Valentinos. The release features four hand-picked tracks from the early years of incredible Womack Brothers which take us on a journey through the birth of soul music, from the gospel roots of “Couldn’t Hear Nobody Pray”, through the early R&B of “Don’t Go Away” and “Rock In The Cradle Of Love” to the incredible group soul of “Put Me Down Easy”. All were previously unreleased on vinyl with the exception of “Couldn’t Hear Nobody Pray”, which is a near mythical SAR release that we won’t find anytime soon.
The Chess/Cadet EP features songs from the unmistakable signature style of Terry Callier with two folk-soul tracks, “Lover”, and “Baby Take Your Time” both previously unreleased on vinyl. On the deep side there are two incredible tracks from Fame Studios, Muscle Shoals, also both previously unreleased on 7” vinyl. Irma Thomas “Let’s Do It Over” and Laura Lee’s take on “Sure As Sin”. Both take these ears back to the long missed Soul Essence weekenders where emotion just oozed from the decks in the Jim Wray lounge.

Geater Davis – Two tremendous deep soul cuts, back to back, for the first time on 7” vinyl. The tracks ‘I’m In Love With You’ and ‘A Whole Lot Of Man’ were recorded for Sound Stage 7 but were criminally left on the tape shelves until they were featured in retrospective compilations from the ‘80’s. Nothing less than essential for lovers of deep soul music.

Johnny Adams - Pitched roughly in the middle period (late 70s) was a tenure with producer Senator Jones and his Hep’ Me imprint.“It’s You Baby, It’s You”, a so cool horn-led mid-tempo gem of a take of the super rare release by S*x, and the beat-ballad ‘Think About You”, both were originally unreleased tracks, and available now for the first time on vinyl.
Kim Tolliver - Soul fans have been deprived of the wonderful and infectious “Can’t Get Into You” for far too long. The track was originally released in New Zealand on Key Records in 1979 and is now a near mythical rarity. This great track has been coupled with the previously unreleased mid-tempo, crossover coolness of “The Show Must Go On”.
