False security:

The mere fact that I buckle up wear my helmet or wear my seatbelt does not guarantee that I won't be in an accident.
(prevention is better than the cure) however,

I can prevent jeopardising my career and disappointing my family by not taking any chances at work.

My spouse won't leave me if I maintain my current weight.

Layers:

I did everything perfectly, but my loved one still passed away. Oh my God, how did my relationship end up like this?

In response to death and grief, it is normal for people to feel angry, disappointed, and resentful.
