Although I post regularly on this page, I rarely share anything on my main profile. Since this page serves as the gateway to my YouTube channel, it feels like the right place to talk about my interests, hobbies, and my passion for promoting both physical and mental well-being.
Over the past five years, I’ve increasingly become a "stop the world, I want to get off for a while" kind of person. Life today often feels rushed and impersonal, with everyone constantly moving on to the next thing.
At the risk of sounding like a grumpy old man, one thing I genuinely dislike is the rise of generic, one-click messages—such as many of the birthday messages I received on my main profile today. To me, they often feel less like a personal gesture and more like a response to an algorithm-generated reminder. It can seem as though people are sending them out of obligation rather than genuine thought.
If you know someone and value them, surely twenty seconds is worth investing to write a heartfelt sentence of your own. A few sincere words mean far more than a pre-written greeting selected with a single click.
I have no issue with birthday reminders themselves—they can be useful. But whenever I send birthday wishes, I always take a moment to write a personal message. For me, that small effort is what makes the gesture meaningful.
In fact, I find receiving generic, automated greetings somewhat disheartening. Because of that, I’ve now hidden my birthday from public view, hopefully sparing me from the annual algorithm-prompted messages next year.
There were quite a few birthday wishes from people who know me today, as well as from those who have been part of my life in the past. I’d like to sincerely thank everyone who took the time to send a personal message wishing me a happy birthday, whether through Facebook, WhatsApp, or a text. Your kind words, thoughtfulness, and warm wishes were truly appreciated.
