AI has been a controversial subject in the creative technology community. The past month, Chaos Inc co-founder has been on AI panels with some of the brightest minds in the industry. She has chosen to adopt a positive stance on AI developments in filmmaking and 3d. Why? Because as they say, "the cat is already out of the bag."
"Theres no going back. The proverbial pandora's box is open. AI is already unleashed on the world. My hope is we can harness its power to support, enable and augment creative processes. That what we are witnessing is the dawn of a new creative renAIssance. Will we see mass job loss in the coming years, as humans are replaced by more reliable, cheaper, and more efficient AI driven processes? Yes. But - can an AI driven society make our lives better? Can we harness its power to free society from the drudgery of labour and menial tasks, allowing more time in our lives for rest, thought, pondering... and creativity? While AI can perform creative tasks, ultimately there is still a human element go the process... guiding direction, sifting through results, curating content and dictating changes and new renditions, which are slowly shaped into a final product first imagined by a human. AI is a tool. It is not artifical, but augmented intelligence, supporting human creativity by enabling us to translate ideas and concepts to form and product like never before.
So yes, I'm hopeful.
