CRINGE 5: RAGE
There aren't many emotions as complex, intense and varied as rage: from gamers to feminists, and political organisers to eroticists, rage is felt by those who have had the pleasure or discomfort of being kept in a chokehold by its ability to heighten our senses while also turning us blind. Sometimes rage is used for good; sometimes it's pointless and destructive. Sometimes rage is controlled; other times it's the exact thing controlling its owner.
Rage can be politically charged, or deeply individual. Sometimes it's explosive and sometimes it festers inside us like an abscess waiting to burst. Sometimes rage can cause all of the above at once.
We want to hear about it all: The times rage was part of your political awakening, the times your rage controlled you and only resulted in subsequent shame. We want to reflect with you on sources of rage and how they might connect with pleasure and pain, frustration and desire and longing all at once.
How has rage been perceived over time? Who's allowed to feel and express rage, and who doesn't? Who decides what rage is justified or condemned?
For issue 5, we're asking: What is your relationship with rage?
