A little piece of Cotswold heritage for the home, with a story that leads back to the landscape beyond it.

The Cotswold Company and the National Trust have joined forces on a new Heritage Collection, inspired by the architecture, interiors and craftsmanship found in National Trust properties across the Cotswolds.

The first two ranges, Upton Washed Oak and Chastleton, bring traditional details, natural materials and considered country style into contemporary homes.

But there is more to the collaboration than furniture. A minimum of £30,000 from sales will support National Trust nature restoration projects, including the Stroud Landscape Project, where wildflower grasslands, ancient woodlands and wildlife corridors are being restored across the western Cotswolds.

October is a month for looking ahead in the garden. 🍂

While the borders begin to settle into their autumn rhythm, there’s still plenty to do now that will make a difference in the months ahead.

From planting the bulbs that will bring colour next spring, to giving perennials a little attention, protecting more tender plants and making good use of fallen leaves, October is a surprisingly busy time for gardeners.

It’s also a lovely opportunity to take stock of the garden before winter arrives, noticing what worked this year, what could be moved or divided, and what you’d like to grow more of next season.

What happens when you combine a love of growing with a passion for flowers, seed heads and beautifully unexpected textures?

For Lucy Phillips, it has resulted in a very different approach to dried flowers.

When Lucy and her husband returned to the UK, they bought a neglected nine-acre property on the edge of the Cotswolds. Despite the exposed and challenging conditions, Lucy set about creating a series of flower gardens, growing unusual varieties specifically for drying and arranging.

From poppies, honesty and sea hollies to dahlias, strawflowers and love-in-a-mist, her garden is deliberately diverse, with an ever-changing harvest of flowers and seed heads. She calls them her ‘freshly dried’ flowers, air-dried and used at their best rather than preserved to last indefinitely.

Working alongside floral designer Kara Johnson, Lucy creates distinctive arrangements and installations for private clients, luxury hotels and design-led brands, challenging our idea of what dried flowers can be.

It’s a story of experimentation, growing what others might overlook, and finding new beauty in flowers as they move through the seasons.

October brings a change of pace. Nature takes on golden, deeper, richer tones, pumpkins begin to appear, and there’s a sense of slowing down, and enjoying everything the season represents.

It’s a month for collecting conkers, visiting the orchard, choosing bulbs for spring, gathering around the kitchen table and making the most of those beautiful days when the sun still has a little warmth in it.

What begins with a tiny seed can become something much bigger.

In our Autumn 2026 issue, we meet flower growers Milli Proust and Paris Alma of Alma Proust, whose shared fascination with seeds has grown into a beautiful, seed-focused business.

Having started out as neighbouring flower growers in West Sussex, the pair joined forces in 2021 and have since created a growing space dedicated to producing and saving seed, including their speciality, sweet peas.

Their work goes beyond simply collecting seed. Milli and Paris are developing unusual flower varieties through careful breeding and selection, looking for distinctive forms, expressive colours, movement, scent and resilience. Some take years to stabilise, making each new variety a labour of patience, observation and curiosity.

We also discover which hardy annuals they recommend sowing this autumn, and their advice for anyone wanting to start growing from seed, including the most important tip of all: don’t overcomplicate it. Choose the flowers you truly love, because, as they say, “Affection helps you to pay attention.”

There’s something particularly beautiful about an autumn garden, and in our latest issue, florist Graham Corbett shares why it has become his favourite season.

In A Life in Flowers, Graham explores the joy of growing your own, from the ease of direct sowing to the wonderful abundance of cut-and-come-again flowers. He also shares his growing obsession with dahlias, a flower he once avoided but has since come to love for their incredible colour, variety and character.

And if you’re wondering what to do with all those autumn blooms, Graham shows us how to create a seasonal table arrangement, bringing together dahlias, zinnias, cosmos, asters, foliage, rosehips and fading hydrangeas to create something wild, abundant and wonderfully garden-inspired.

September can feel like a whirlwind. Back to school, back to routines, diaries filling up again and that familiar feeling of suddenly having far too much to do.

So as we soon settle into October, perhaps it’s worth giving ourselves permission to slow down a little too?

The arrival of cool, crisp mornings feels particularly welcome. There’s something wonderfully revitalising about a change of season, and about the opportunity to reset, return to routine and make a little more space for the things that bring us joy.

That might be a walk outside, an hour in the garden, cooking something from scratch, lighting a candle at the end of a busy day, or simply sitting down with a cup of tea and a magazine.

Here at Wildflower, we’ve always believed in the importance of connecting with nature and finding joy in the simple things.

Our Autumn issue explores that connection through gardens, flowers, growing, food, interiors, travel and much more, with plenty of inspiration for the season ahead.

What do you love about autumn? 🍂

There’s something about October that feels wonderfully atmospheric. Crisp mornings, misty starts and that unmistakable moment when you step outside and realise autumn has truly arrived.

We love the changing colours of the trees, pumpkins appearing everywhere, trips to the apple orchard and the promise of something delicious baking in the oven.

We love woodland walks with crunchy leaves underfoot, cosy evenings by candlelight and the return of chunky knits and boots.

And then there’s October half term, with time for family adventures, country walks and making the most of this beautiful season before winter arrives.

From copper and russet to golden leaves, candlelit evenings and that lovely feeling of a new season beginning, October has so much to enjoy.

And, of course, there’s a new issue of Wildflower to settle down with. 🌿
