Author and cook Abby Allen has a special love for autumn, a season she says is all about engaging the senses: “Harvest is all about making a judgement, connecting to and understanding the land to reap the benefits.” 🍂

As featured in our current issue, her Harvest Minestrone (pictured, taken from her book 'The Farm Kitchen') is the perfect example - a hearty mix of onions, leeks, kale, carrots, pumpkins, peas, corn and more. It’s a celebration of seasonal abundance, simple to make and just as good frozen for those frosty winter days.

What autumnal recipes are you looking forward to creating in your kitchen?

With a hint of chill in the air, it really feels that we have entered the golden months of autumn.

Zoe Levey, our editor, says: "I love to celebrate this time of bounty, and all that nature brings. Whether that’s picking the last blooms in the dahlia patch, or taking early walks in the morning mist, there’s no doubt that getting outside is good for us - heart, body and soul."

Autumn is a great time of year to try something new, and in our Autumn issue we’ve rounded up some excellent ideas for you. Imagine creating wild floral arrangements, or making an autumn wreath from sustainably sourced foliage. Try your hand at foraging in the Cotswolds, cook a hearty meal for those cosy days indoors, or learn the ancient art of block printing to create colourful textiles for your home.

And of course, don't miss our interview with our cover star, , who talks about her love for the countryside and the ways in which she connects with nature to maintain her wellbeing. Lydia shares her journey of self-discovery via her garden and animals, and how she hopes to inspire others to take a similar pathway to happiness.

☕ Make a cuppa, curl up somewhere cosy, and discover the latest issue of Wildflower, made for autumn days like these. Digital edition also available via Readly.

Floral artist, grower and supplier Lucy Phillips is redefining the beauty of dried flowers. 🌾

From her Cotswolds garden, she cultivates unusual varieties, grows with the seasons and air-dries them at their most vibrant, creating what she calls “freshly dried” flowers.

“I want to showcase flowers that have been preserved at their best, to represent the season they were grown in and to give clients something different by pushing the boundaries of what is possible to dry.”

As featured in our current issue, Lucy shares her journey, her love of wiggly stems, and why she believes dried flowers should feel as alive and seasonal as fresh.
