One of the many perks of youth work – you get to head off on class trips and call it work 👀 Just back from a two-day residential at Jungle NI with a cracking group of young ones from East Belfast – and it didn’t disappoint!

We squeezed in three activities, but this one was the winner by a mile. Now, imagine a 41-year-old bald man throwing himself around a water park assault course like he’s still in his teens… absolute scene. I looked like a burst couch flying through the air but sure, the craic was ninety 😂

Don’t get me wrong – the knees are in bits and I’ve no dignity left, but I wouldn’t change it for the world. Getting paid to have this much fun with young people you care about? Can’t beat it!

Survived a 22-mile cycle in 34-degree heat (just about!) and found some epic spots around Lake Garda — including a few jetty-jumping gems. Sweaty, slightly sunburnt, but totally worth it!

Such a brilliant day! 🎢🍽️🇮🇹
Yesterday we had the best time at Movieland – full of laughs, rides, and movie magic – and finished it off with an unforgettable dinner at Medieval Times. Knights, battles, cheering… the whole lot! 🏰⚔️

I’ve put together a little video of some of the fun, though there was way more we couldn’t capture.

Feeling so thankful for days like this, and we’d definitely recommend checking this place out if you’re ever in this part of Italy.

Day 3 in Italy 🇮🇹
This evening we wandered into the storybook village of Borghetto sul Mincio, and I honestly think it’s the most beautiful place I’ve ever seen. Picture cobbled lanes, ivy-draped buildings, and a river winding through ancient watermills—it’s like stepping into a postcard.

We had dinner at the charming Grand Café San Marco, where the food was only outdone by the view. As the sun set, we strolled through the village, soaking in the magic of golden light reflecting off the river and locals chatting in cozy corners. Pure Italian enchantment. ✨

What an absolute blast it was capturing the Key Stage 4 Sports Day at Longstone School! 🏆 The energy, the passion, the camaraderie... it was all incredible. A HUGE shoutout to every single student who participated and to the amazing staff who made it happen! 👏

Gotta say, learning sure wasn't this engaging back in the 80s and 90s.
