کچھ سال قبل کی بات ہے لاہور جانا ہوا تو پنجاب کلب میں روم بک کروالیا. ڈاکٹر اسرار احمد کے بیٹے ملنے کے لئے آئے تو ویٹر نے چائے سرو کرنے سے منع کردیا کہ یہ کلب کے رولز کے خلاف ہے کہ شلوار قمیض پہنے شخص کو سرو کیا جائے. مجھے تو کانوں پر یقین نہ آئے، مینیجر صاحب سے شکایت کی تو انکا بھی یہی جواب تھا. بہت دکھ ہوا کہ اسلامی جمہوریہ پاکستان میں ایک بہترین شلوار قمیض، جوتا اور واسکٹ پہنے شخص کا داخلہ بند ہے. آج ایک ریسٹورنٹ نے یہ حرکت کی تو سبکو آگ لگی ہوئی ہے اور یہ تذلیل اشرافیہ کے یہاں روز کا معمول ہے. آپ سے ایک بات عرض کروں؟ آپ سٹی بنک میں جاب کے درمیان جانماز بچھا کر نماز پڑھ سکتے ہیں، یو ایس ملٹری اکیڈمی میں شلوار قمیض پہن سکتے ہیں، وائٹ ہاؤس میں پہن سکتے ہیں مگر پاکستان کے کلبز میں نہیں. پھر میں کہتا ہوں کہ ملک سے باہر چلے جاؤ تو آپ لوگ غصّہ کرتے ہیں
