Big congratulations to our Salford reporter Dr Joy Watson who was awarded the British Empire Medal for services to people with dementia in the King's birthday honours.

We are so proud of you Joy, your drive and determination to create a better world for people living with dementia has been unwavering - and always done with style. You are a very important part of the MyGen team and have been a friend way before we were even a news platform.

Well done from Kirsty, Grace and everyone at the MyGen team - so well deserved!

Members of the Greater Manchester Older People’s Network have created a video to encourage people across the ten boroughs to join.

The Greater Manchester Older People's Network (GMOPN) is for people aged 50 and over and organisations who want to participate, connect and make a difference.

The network works together to challenge ageism, and promote a more positive view of ageing that recognises everyone’s contributions, experience and expertise – so Greater Manchester is the best place to grow older.

The variety of ways to participate means GMOPN can cover a wide range of goals and the different groups are constantly working with partners to tackle ageism and age-related barriers.

Why don’t you give it a go? Watch the video here:
