"Love it or hate it the weather in the UK has the effect of dictating our lives.

"Stand at a bus stop in the rain and someone will say something like ‘weather for ducks’. If it’s sunny someone will say a version of George Formby’s catch phrase ‘Turned out nice again’. "

Read this lovely article from reporter Jean on one of her bike rides, getting out after the rain. Why don't you try it too?

On Saturday I had got drenched cycling to Manchester, so I wasn’t holding out for good weather on Sunday. How wrong could I be? My partner and I awoke the next day to a glorious morning, blue sky, wispy clouds and little wind, perfect cycling weather.

Good news!

This month (November 2025) will be the second concessionary travel try-out using Greater Manchester buses before 9.30am all month.

You will need your older person’s or disabled person’s travel pass and will be able to travel free on Bee Network (and non-Bee Network buses within the Greater Manchester boundary) and on Bee Network’s night buses.

Good News fellow Twirleys! (This is the nickname for us older adults who like to travel on Greater Manchester buses. We got the nickname from “Are we too early?” when there was a restriction on travelling before 9.30am).

REVIEW: Snake In The Grass by reporter Gill James

"Only Alan Ayckbourn makes you chuckle when a young woman admits that she may have killed her father. Naturally Nicola Stephenson’s delivery of ditsy younger sister Miriam adds to the effect."

It is with a heavy heart that we share the sad news that our talented MyGen reporter and photographer David McLenachan has sadly passed away after being diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease just over a year ago.

He will be greatly missed by us, and all those that have worked with him as part of MyGen and in his many other volunteer roles in his retirement.

We are honoured to share a tribute piece written about him with the support of the MyGen reporters.
