A man and two women were arrested this weekend on suspicion of being intoxicated at the wheel, after three vehicle stops carried out by officers.

One of the vehicles was found with an alcoholic beverage in a pint glass in the door (pictured 📸👇🏻)

Around 11pm on Friday 5th September, officers stopped a Volkswagen Golf on Kenilworth Road in Billingham which was seen by officers driving the wrong way on the road.

A 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of drug driving following a roadside drugs wipe test.

Later the same night, officers spotted a Suzuki Vitara driving the wrong way along Stockton High Street around 12:50am on Saturday 6th September.

Officers located a half-consumed glass of beer in reach of the driver within the vehicle.

A 41-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

Both the man and woman are currently on bail whilst enquiries continue.

On Sunday afternoon (7th September), following a call to police regarding the alleged manner of driving of a Nissan Juke, a 47-year-old woman was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after the vehicle was stopped on the A66 around 2:30pm. The woman was allegedly more than four times the legal limit, and was due to appear at Teesside Magistrates Court today (Monday 8th September).

👉🏻 Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is one of the fatal four, meaning it is one of the leading factors in serious or fatal collisions. Our officers continue to proactively patrol Cleveland’s roads in order to detect offences, in order to save lives ❌

Petition Delivered: Stockton Borough Council’s Response …”’NO!” 📝 …❌

Thank you to everyone who signed and shared our petition
This has been delivered and SBC have responded.

Sadly they will not carry out a proper open and genuine consultation
They will however carry out further “engagement” this could be a start, but still leaves more questions unanswered and less of a vision based around the people that matter most - You!
Reasons for which as that old tag line was said before “a consultation was held in 2019”…this was before levelling up funding was available, before ownership changed, and was a consultation based on all town centres across the borough not solely Billingham, and of course before our lives and lifestyles changed significantly with Covid19. Thoughts over 5 years ago could be, and are, very different now, and this was based on 311 responses from Billingham.

SBC has confirmed the full allocation of £6m from tees valley mayor Ben Houchen will be allocated to the sports village. But still will not answer publicly what has been paid to Evolve; What they’ll do with the £10m allocated before levelling up funding and/or the £5m contribution as per the levelling up bid, which originally proposed a supermarket and not housing.

Frustrating; disappointing; concerning- but not surprising with Stockton Borough Council

Thank you again to all who signed, we will still keep the pressure on to get residents voice, thoughts and opinions heard and will keep you updated

Thank you again for your love of our town 💙
