The Covid lockdowns were a difficult time for people around the world but there also emerged many creative projects.

For me the most positive thing to come out of that time was a wonderful collaboration with the German composer and multi-instrumentalist Carla Fuchs. I had come across Carla on-line singing haunting versions of my mum Sandy Denny’s songs. I had just been reading my mum’s notebooks and imagining how she might have set to music some of the unrecorded lyrics. Might there be some connection?

I contacted , not really knowing what might come of it but we felt a special bond straight away and talking everyday we soon considered a joint Sandy project around the unfinished lyrics - it was to become the album Songbird.

The album was released in the summer of 2023, a collaboration between the Sandy Denny Estate and Talking Elephant Records - bringing together my mum’s unfinished lyrics, Carla’s beautiful new music, and my artwork inspired by mum’s original notebook drawings. Songbird was born out of friendship, creativity, and love it is a unique bridge between past and present, celebrating the enduring spirit of Sandy Denny’s music. For anyone who missed it first time around be sure to get a copy – it is dedicated with the deepest love to my mum.
