SHUVARDA

A very special bus with a unique back story you just couldn’t make up.

I’ve owned this bus for around 6 years and it’s been good to me, I’ve spent a lot of time and money to get it to where it is now but I have an opportunity to own the only vehicle I said that I’d ever let go of Shuvarda for so sadly selling up is one of the moves I have to make.

Theres a huge amount to cover regarding this vehicles history and spec so I’ll do a brief run down and any other questions I can go through with any one who’s genuinely interested.

*Rare 1956 RHD Australian Kombi (Wolfsburg Barndoor style chassis)
*Two sets of sign writing, first is from the 50's FranTec appliances and then Shuvarda from the 70's (the noturious drug smuggling magician)
*All welding was completed in 2020
*Full 12v upgraded wiring loom made by Aircooled Auto Elec
*All correct lights and semaphores
*All running gear worked through
*New brakes all round with duel circuit master cylinder conversion
*Stock big nut transmission and reduction boxes
*Bilstein shocks all round
*Brand new 1776 Engine built less than 1000 miles ago with only the best parts, no expense spared.
*Custom Vintage Volkshause exhaust
*Genuine Porsche 356 wheels with custom offsets.
*Tall Dunlop load rated road tyres
*New seals all round
*Custom camping interior with Rusty Lee rock’n’roll bed trimmed by MadMatz
*Leisure battery and split charger
*Diesel heater
*Automatic fire extinguisher system
*Custom BugTech shifter
*Fully sound proofed all round

The bus does come with a few accessories that I have collected over many years and promised I’d never sell but needs must (these are NOT for sale separately)

Of corse it’s a 70 vehicle and has it’s battle scars but the bus drives great, I’ve just got back from an 800 mile trip to Spa fully loaded with our trade stand and it didn’t miss a beat.

I’m not really sure what else to say apart from that I’m going to miss it very much.

Hayburner Magazine will be back at Le BUG SHOW ,Spa.

Following on with our mission to attend a few VW shows a bit further ‘Up North’ we returned to Tatton Park VW Show for the first time in 13 years!

We have to say it was a very impressive turn out of show cars and a great day even with the temperamental weather. It was really cool to see some cars we’ve not seen in a long time and a few we’ve never seen at all. Plus the Trade/Auto-Jumble areas didn’t disappoint.

I’d like to say a massive thank you to the organisers for putting on such a seamlessly organised event and to everyone who took the time to visit our trade stand.

We’ll certainly be back next year.

Yesterday we managed to get down to Santa Pod Raceway Bug Jam 2025 to get a few photographs.

In issue 54 we go in to depth regarding how Kai provides a much-needed service for the worldwide air-cooled community and even gives us a run down of his top 10 greatest finds.

The wait is finally over! A new competition is finally here! Due to the success of our last T25 (T3) we decided, hey, why not do another?

How do you fancy owning one of the most original T25 (T3) panel vans we’ve ever seen! This example is unbelievably un-messed with and made in the first few years of production of air-cooled models.

The bodywork is mostly original paint and has a few battle scars here and there with a great light patina… it’s incredibly solid and sturdy. The doors shut with a lovely clunk, the heaters work fantastic, it’s smooth, quiet and a pleasure to drive. The rear is a panelled out blank canvas ready to make your own, whether you want to become the new local builder or convert it into a stealth camper. It does have the added bonus of a leisure battery with a split charge system, with charging and USB points in the back.

The definition of the term ‘washout’ is ‘an event or period that is spoiled by constant or heavy rain.’ I don’t think it applies here. Rain yes. Spoiled no.

We were all warned about the biblical weather heading to KAFERNATIONUK 2025; I can only imagine half of the attendees thought they’d take the forecast with a pinch of salt and the other half are made up by the die hards.

What I will say is, that even with the heaviest rainfall we’ve seen at a show in over 10 years they still managed an air-cooled turn out that many events only dream of.

I’m not sure what it was about last Saturday but looking around the crowd the weather didn’t seem to dampen people’s spirits at all. If anything I saw bigger smiles and more laughter than ever.

Thank you so much to the guys who put so much effort into this event and to everyone who made the extra effort to still come down. I think it’s so cool that the UK VW community is in such great stead.

This downpour did however make for some very different style show photographs.
