CAST ANNOUNCEMENT

Introducing Sophie Aldred to the Something Sketchy cast!

Sophie is most known to Doctor Who fans for playing the iconic role of Ace, the companion to Sylvester McCoy’s Seventh Doctor in the 1980s and in a subsequent return in 2022’s The Power of The Doctor. However, outside of the Whoniverse, she has a whole string of credits including providing the voices to such iconic characters as Dennis The Menace and Tree Fu Tom!

As we prepare to shoot the final two sketches of Something Sketchy, we’re very excited to announce that Sophie is joining our cast of screen legends!

A lovely evening was had at The Wellington Orbit Cinema for the VE Day screening of The Last Witness - directed by the lovely Piotr Szkopiak (director of our Secret Agents sketch!)

It was a powerful film made by some wonderful people and all the more important and poignant now than it’s initial release in 2018!

Thanks to the lovely Wellington Orbit for such a wonderful event and to Piotr and The Last Witness team for putting together such a powerful piece of cinema!

ANNOUNCING FIRST CHRISTMAS!

“First Christmas”, directed by Keith Wilhelm Kopp and written by Laurence Guy, enters development. The film will be produced by Shropshire-based production company, Ask Seek Knock.

“A widowed man invites his three grown up children and their families for Christmas, in the hope that they stitch their fractured family back together.”

This is the second feature film for Kopp and Guy, with their previous feature, Translations, receiving several awards.

Luke Allen (Something Sketchy, Henry House), who is set to make his feature film producing debut with First Christmas said “When Keith approached me to produce this, it was an instant yes as I had so much fun working with him for a couple of days on Something Sketchy. Once I read Laurence’s beautiful script, I knew I had made the right decision - it’s an honour to be onboard and I can’t wait to bring this story to life!”

First Christmas is set to be filmed in Shropshire, England, with a primarily West Midlands based crew. The film is to be associate produced by West Midlands-based Emily DeJesus and Adam Fray.

Laurence Guy, the film’s writer, stated that “I’m really excited to be working with ASK and Keith on First Christmas. After the success of Translations it felt like a natural step to bring this ensemble comedy drama to life in a way that I know audiences will love. It's a real actor’s script, with character and heart at the centre of the story, that centres on a family brought together over Christmas after the death of the matriarch of the family.”

“I look forward to bringing First Christmas alive because of the universality of families coming together during the holidays, overcoming their hardships and rediscovering the joy of spending time with people who know the joy and complexity of each other. This film has a lot of humour and humanity and I know there is a wide audience who will really engage with the story. I especially am excited to shoot First Christmas in Shropshire, a location that is wealthy in history and picturesque landscapes.” - director Keith Wilhelm Kopp.

First Christmas is currently in development and available for investment and sponsorship conversations. For more information, contact Luke on [email protected].

WAS IT REALLY A WEEK AGO?

A week ago, we had the privilege of filming at the wonderful Ministry of Stories for a very silly sketch, directed by Stubagful and starring comedian Mark Simmons and Doctor Who legends Katy Manning and Susan Twist!

(including a little Reduced To Clear reunion for Ninette Finch, Winter Foenander and some of the crew!)

Huge thanks to all of the brilliant cast & crew that brought The Wordsmith sketch together, as part of Something Sketchy - we can't wait to share this with everyone!
