🍂 Autumn is my favourite season. Sure, I love a sunny afternoon in the park (read: pub garden), but honestly - I think we Brits are at our best when we’ve got a bit of drizzle to contend with.

So, what does autumn mean to you? Here are my top five things I look forward to when the nights start to creep in:

✨ Neighbourhood walks
We’re spoilt with gorgeous spots - parks, canals, fields, golf courses and trails. Autumn colours make them even more magical. Do you remember this beautiful photo of Ealing Green from last year's Autumn issue by the talented ?

🥣 Soup season
I love soup. (Expect a whole post soon dedicated to this passion!) It’s wholesome, kid-friendly, and the ultimate comfort food. Last week’s highlights? Wonton soup and minestrone = pure soul food.

🥄 Granola Girl Autumn
Forget Hot Girl Summer - I’m all about Granola Girl Autumn. Not the healthy kind, mind you. I’m talking maple syrup, honey and crunchy clusters. Sweet, cosy weekend breakfast perfection. This was a recipe - see the website for more details.

🧶 Knitwear dreams
I love a big cosy jumper. Highly recommend a visit to Jolanta at - her custom knitwear is stunning. Check out the above pic and this issue’s Editor’s Picks for examples of her beautiful knits.

📖 Cosy nights in
Preferably with a good book - or the new Autumn issue of the magazine, out in print 17th September. Keep an eye out for the list of wonderful distributors!

✨ Weekend treat unlocked! ✨

If you haven’t yet been to the newly opened in Dickens Yard, you need to. Kova is a London favourite, serving up the most beautiful Japanese–French fusion cakes and teas. Think delicate flavours, perfect layers, and patisserie heaven.
We popped in yesterday after school and grabbed a few of their incredible Mille Crêpe cakes to kick off the weekend in style.

My (very enthusiastic) family went for:
🍫 Oreo Mille Crêpe
🍵 Matcha Tea Mille Crêpe
🍮 Dubai Chocolate Mille Crêpe
🌰 Pistachio Cream Cake

For the uninitiated: a Mille Crêpe is a French–Japanese dessert made from layers of whisper-thin crêpes, filled with cream or custard, and chilled to perfection. In short - it’s mega.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ from us. Highly recommend.

✨ Big news for Gruffalo fans! ✨ Julia Donaldson has just announced that a brand-new Gruffalo book will be arriving next year 🦊🐍🐭🦉. Details are still under wraps, but it’s already got us reminiscing about when our little ones were captivated by the original stories.

I can’t help but think back to family trips along the magical Gruffalo Trail at . I discovered it when my kids were tiny (note to parents: a pushchair is not the best idea on those paths!) and it quickly became a favourite spot to revisit again and again.

Since then, Horsenden Hill has blossomed into an incredible local hub – with a café, brewery, pizza oven, bakery and farm shop. Plus, the brilliant runs inspiring woodland workshops that make the most of this special setting.

If you’re looking for the perfect autumn adventure, wrap up warm, take the family, and enjoy a woodland walk with a side of local treats.

Could you be the steady presence a young person in Ealing needs?

For nearly 18 years, MCR Pathways has been changing lives across the UK through its award-winning mentoring programme - and they’ve just launched here in Ealing!

By giving just one hour a week during the school day, you can help a young person feel seen, heard and full of possibility.

🌟 A mentee shared:
“Before having my mentor I had every intention of leaving school… My mentor is the first person who made me feel smart and believe I could go to college. They made me believe in myself.”

🌟 A mentor shared:
“Being a mentor isn’t just about supporting my mentee - it’s made me reflect on myself, my purpose and how I can be a better parent, partner, and member of society.”

No special skills are needed - just kindness, patience and a willingness to listen. MCR Pathways will give you all the training and support you need.

As the new school year begins, could you be the difference for a young person in Ealing?
