Audio Flux Circuit 06: Creative Tension is now open for submissions through September 15!

Audio Flux invites creators everywhere to make a 3-minute audio “fluxwork” inspired by:

✨ Theme: Creative Tension – drawn from artist Lorna Hamilton-Brown’s Tension Birds, a project exploring knitting’s mental health benefits. Lorna shapes small birds from “tension squares” and gives them away.
✨ Audible repetition (like the rhythm of knitting)
✨ And… tell them the colour of your piece
This round’s prompts come from Lorna, known as “The Banksy of Knitting” for her powerful, socially engaged textile art.
🏆 12 finalists → 4 winners receive $600, a ticket to the sold-out Resonate Podcast Festival, and a debut on stage + podcast.

📅 Deadline: September 15

The Forvie Shawl is a classic top-down triangular shawl knitted with a narrow rectangular panel in the centre of a deep V-shape that is ideal for layering. The textural stitch pattern is inspired by wind-blown sand ridges on the beautiful beach at Forvie National Nature Reserve, Scotland.

Two complementary shades of hand-dyed yarn are gradually blended together to create a beautiful fade. This very special yarn is dyed locally by Cookston Crafts.

New-Look Knitting and Stitching

After running crafty events around the UK for more than 30 years, the Knitting & Stitching show is getting a fresh look with a new name and a contemporary update – and we have a pair of tickets to give away to each of the three shows. Rebranded as Knit + Stitch, the fairs are set to take place in London’s Alexandra Palace from October 9-12; in the Eikon Exhibition Centre in Northern Ireland from November 13-16 and in Harrogate’s Convention Centre from November 20-23. Organisers have promised this year’s event will be bigger and better than ever, with vendors, demonstrations and workshops in knitting, stitching, sewing, weaving, felting and more. An organiser says: ‘Knit + Stitch’s mission is simple: to ignite creativity and innovation in the world of textile crafts by building a welcoming and inclusive space where visitors of all backgrounds can learn, shop, connect and be inspired.’

For your chance to win, visit our Competitions page at knittingmag.com.

For London only, there is a £5 fee when using on Saturday 11th October.

Deadline: September 4. Find out more and book at knitandstitchshow.co.uk.
