c.1835 “The Complete Herbal to which is now added upwards of One Hundred Additional Herbs, With a Display of Their Medicinal and Occult Qualities”. Includes 20 pages of hand-coloured botanical illustrations.

The book includes a comprehensive list of medicinal herbs, indexed to a list of typical illnesses. Culpeper provides proper preparations for different herbs including anemone, dittany, cottonweed, hemlock, beech-tree, to***co, rhubarb, and hundreds more.

Houselore was established in 2017 by historian Alexandra Jones. She was born and raised in the USA, before moving to Scotland at the age of 19. After completing an MA in European History at the University of Glasgow, she spent her early career working in museums and historic houses.

As for what you'll find here, it's simple - Alexandra picks what she likes. That could be anything from a 17th century tapestry to WW2 signage. She focuses on items that are authentic, well designed, and of interesting provenance. You'll be able to see the story behind every piece that she selects for Houselore.
