Today, it's Close Encounters Bedford that needs help, but every few months we're seeing posts about independent comics and bookstores struggling or deciding to close. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/9M5PUgny2fDo3yT7/
It's not just the people running shops - a significant portion of publishers in Wales are fighting to survive. We've been around for 14 years now, and times have never been tougher. There was a letter sent from Publishing Wales to the Welsh Government last week asking for help for the sector: https://nation.cymru/news/publishers-ask-every-ms-for-help-in-crisis-that-could-wipe-out-the-industry-in-wales/
We know times are hard for everybody, but if you're a standing order customer at a store they really benefit from you emptying your box and keeping up to date with your subscriptions. Or just pop in for a Christmas or birthday present, or a treat for yourself - and publishers like Deadstar or other independent creators love when you buy something. It's community support that keeps us going. Otherwise, this wonderful, fragile creative ecosystem risks collapsing.
