Cases of bird flu are still cropping up in the UK
A good source of info is this NFU page - Defra does not seem to be alerting bird keepers as it used to do, despite registration.

The NFU's AI case finder allows poultry keepers to find cases of avian influenza near you. You'll find all the important information about cases, including the restrictions that apply in the disease control zones around the infected premises.

Bird flu is continuing its spread, with an ever-growing list of English counties - and the whole of Northern Ireland – now under restrictions which mean all poultry has to be kept indoors. And stricter bio-security measures have been imposed across the whole of the UK.

I think you can draw your own conclusions about the scale of the industry, and the possible transmission of disease, from this article. The virus travels very easily on fomites. Fomites are objects to virus can attach - tyres, boxes, foot wear etc.
“ Avian influenza has struck one of the largest and most modern egg laying sites in the country, with more than a million birds now expected to be culled in an attempt to prevent further spread.
The site at Wem processes about half the UK’s barn egg production. It will have a very significant impact.

New Cases in England
Highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) H5N1 was confirmed in commercial poultry on 17 January 2025 at the following premises. A 3km protection zone and a 10km surveillance zone have been declared surrounding each of the premises (effective from 20:30 on the 17 January 2025). All poultry on the premises will be humanely culled.
