One of our oldies! A delightful pocket sized collection of poems edited and illustrated by Julia Killingback. ‘O, to be in England / Now that April’s there, And whoever wakes in England / Sees, some morning, unaware, / That the lowest boughs and the brushwood sheaf / Round the elm-tree bole are in tiny leaf, / While the chaffinch sings on the orchard bough / In England - now!’ By Robert Browning

About Us

Ragged Bears was created by Charles Shirley to bring the best of children's independent publishing from all over the world to the British market. He worked previously for many years at Methuen & ABP & he was involved with publishing classics such as Winnie the Pooh, Tintin, Wind in The Willows, Babar and Miffy, to name a few - as well as a variety of adult books ranging from the King James Bible to Monty Python.

Ragged Bears was founded by Charles and his wife Pamela in 1986. Within a short space of time it became a successful sales, marketing and distribution company building a reputation for bringing wonderful children's books from all over the world to the UK. Ragged Bears then created its own publishing division, producing some best selling books for children.

Ragged Bears is still family run and our aims today remain true to the original intention; to publish engaging, interesting & eclectic books which will inspire a love of learning and be accessible to all children via schools and libraries, as well as via shops. We seek to create books which are relevant to the issues children face today, as well as classic stories with timeless appeal. Thank you for visiting our page!
