Reggae Land returned to The National Bowl yesterday with a sell out audience soaking in the sounds.
The UK's largest reggae festival, bar none, had promised, 'an authentic celebration of Caribbean culture with a class mix of reggae, dancehall, jungle, dub and DnB, plus food village, art installations and more,' and that's precisely what ticket-holders got on day one of the weekend event.
It's the fifth time the venue has been held in the city – and for the past three years, The National Bowl has been home.
“It's amazing to see how much this festival has grown from it's beginnings in Campbell park, the atmosphere and production was off the scale,” said audience member Jason Charles, who sent us these pics.
“At one point they had to shut the stage down because of crushing, but it was managed really well and was only a brief pause in a brilliant day.
Reggae Land continues today.

Haversham's new playground revealed
Haversham's brilliant new playground was officially opened this lunchtime, with former clerk Maria Manthorpe tasked with cutting the ribbon.
The swish new area has transformed the space which had previously housed play equipment installed in the 1960s.
After a period of fundraising, work began on the installation in June.
“We were keen to ensure that the new equipment was accessible, catered for a wider age range that the previous equipment had, that we met the asks from the community around swings and trampoline amongst others, and that the design was interesting and vibrant!” said Cllr Richard Pryor, Chair of Haversham-cum-Little Linford Parish Council.
Children in the community had their say on some of the design decisions, and a large number of residents were on hand for the launch - with excited youngsters rushing to try out the new attractions, which received a solid thumbs up!
“The playground has always been a much loved and cherished asset and during the construction phase I have heard many tales from parents about how they used to play on it when they were younger and how they were excited for their own children or grandchildren about what was being built,” Cllr Pryor added, “Being located next door to the school makes it a much used after-school play area and it lets our children get outside, enjoy the fresh air and have some fun!
“We hope the new equipment enhances that experience and is there for many future generations of Haversham children.”
