This is just a quick reminder that our next Task Event is scheduled for Saturday, 6 September, 10.00 - 12.00 hrs.

Now that the nesting season is over and the bluebells have not yet started to show above ground level, we can get back to removing excess sycamores saplings in the wood. Some of the paths will need nettles, etc trimmed back, and there may be more log lining to do. We would also like to do a gate survey, to assess how many people visit Chaddesden Wood. And of course, there will be the usual litter pick and anything else that we think necessary on the day, (which may include installing some replacement benches if we have them!)

We will meet at the Springwood Drive entrance to the woodland as usual.

Please wear appropriate footwear and clothing and bring gardening gloves if you have them. We will provide tools, hi-vis waistcoats and gloves for those who do not have them.

I would like to thank our new volunteers and remind you that you do not need any prior knowledge to come and help us.

| On Sunday 7 September at 3pm, the UK government will test the Emergency Alerts system. This system warns you via your mobile or tablet if there's a life-threatening emergency nearby.

The test will be sent to all compatible 4G and 5G mobile phones and tablets across the UK. You will hear a loud siren-like sound, vibration, and a message will appear on the screen. The sound and vibration will last for about 10 seconds. You do not need to take any action.

⚠️ You MUST NOT hold a mobile phone while driving or riding a motorcycle. It is illegal to do so. If you receive an alert while driving, do not pick up your phone and attempt to deal with the message.

Continue driving as normal, staying in full control of your vehicle. If you feel the need to look at your phone, you must find a safe and legal place to pull over first. To find out more, visit https://orlo.uk/waCGn
