Three Morehouse Men have received 2026 GRAMMY® Award nominations, celebrating the College’s continued impact in music.

David “Dos Dias” Bishop ’16 — a multi-platinum producer and engineer — earned a nomination for Best R&B Song for his work on Summer Walker’s “Heart of a Woman.” Saul Williams ’94 — the celebrated poet, actor, and musician — is nominated for Best Spoken Word Poetry Album for Saul Williams Meets Carlos Niño and Friends at Treepeople. And PJ Morton ’03, singer, songwriter, and longtime keyboardist for Maroon 5, received two nominations: Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song for “Amazing” (with Darrel Walls) and Best Gospel Album for Heart of Mine.

This trio of nominations — spanning production, spoken word, and gospel — underscores the breadth of Morehouse talent in the music industry.

If HCBUs are churning out these high calibre individuals - we are going places. Excellent. Love to see this. Keep up the great work Morehouse. Churning out champions, trailblazers, corporate leaders and entrepreneurs.

The Night the Fire hoses Ran Dry
A Miracle…

Birmingham, Alabama – May 4, 1963 (the day after the dogs refused)

Bull Connor, furious that the dogs had failed, ordered every firehose in the city turned on the children’s full force.

At 1:14 p.m. the valves were opened wide.
Water shot out for exactly seven feet, then fell straight to the ground like rain.

No pressure.
No spray.

Just soft streams that soaked shoes but never knocked anyone down.
Firemen twisted valves harder.
Nothing.
The hoses stayed gentle.
The children walked forward, singing, and the water parted around them like a curtain.

When the last child passed Sixteenth Street Baptist Church, the hoses suddenly roared back to full power, almost ripping the nozzles from the firemen’s hands.

The city water department tore up streets for weeks looking for the “valve malfunction.”
They never found one.

Every May 4 at 1:14 p.m., the fire hydrants along Kelly Ingram Park leak a few drops, even when capped tight.
Old men who were children that day still come, put their palms under the drip, and say the water still tastes like freedom.

A Namibian teenager has captured attention with an extraordinary invention. According to Africa Global News, Simon Petrus built a mobile phone that can make calls without a SIM card, airtime, or traditional network coverage. Using recycled electronics, including parts from an old landline handset, a television, and a two-way radio, he designed a device that communicates through radio frequency technology. This allows the phone to connect directly with other radios over shortwave frequencies, bypassing conventional cellular infrastructure entirely.

Namibia Today reports that Petrus’s creation is more than just a phone. It also functions as a television, FM radio, cooling fan, and device charger, showing his ability to integrate multiple technologies into one unit. He began developing the prototype while still a student, motivated by the lack of reliable mobile coverage in rural areas. His invention offers a glimpse of how innovation can provide accessible communication in places where traditional networks are limited or nonexistent.

While it is not yet a commercial product, Petrus’s work has drawn national praise and sparked conversations about the future of communication technology in Africa. His achievement demonstrates how creativity and resourcefulness can bridge gaps and bring solutions to real-world challenges.

May we suggest - keep this young man safe.
Make sure he has a brilliant lawyer
Any agreements made must include royalties for life.
He must register his patent in several countries.
He must be aware people will want to pick his brain. He must travel with protection and lawyers.
