Today is International Nurses’ Day.

It’s a chance to celebrate the incredible work of nurses everywhere — including the specialist nurses funded by Teenage Cancer Trust.
They are dedicated specialists providing expert care uniquely tailored for young people facing cancer. Working within the NHS across the UK, they offer vital emotional and practical help, ensuring no young person faces cancer alone.
Their impact is significant, as shared by 16-year-old Owen
“Without my Teenage Cancer Trust nurse Becky, things would’ve been different. If I had any problems, she’d go through it with the doctor for me. She also reassured me when I had worries. Everything she did was amazing.”
Nurses like Becky are at the heart of the care provided to young people going through cancer.
Support for Teenage Cancer Trust helps fund these essential roles, making a profound difference to young lives. If you’re able to, please consider supporting today.

April is Teenage and Young Adult Cancer Awareness Month.
Cancer at this age is different. It disrupts everything – education, friendships, relationships, and plans for the future. It hits just as young people are finding their independence and shaping who they want to be.
Yet despite this, they’re often overlooked. Support and care are not always tailored to their needs, and they face more barriers than other age groups when it comes to accessing clinical trials and mental health support.
At Teenage Cancer Trust, we’ve spent 35 years making sure young people with cancer aren’t forgotten. This month is a chance to amplify their voices and share their stories, so more people understand what makes their experience different – and why they deserve care that recognises that difference.

This month, Teenage Cancer Trust launched , a campaign raising awareness of teenage and young adult cancer.
Being young can be fun, exciting, awkward, challenging – it’s a unique and special time, full of big moments, milestones, and memories.
But imagine being told you have cancer just as life’s getting started.
When a young person hears this devastating news, Teenage Cancer Trust is there for them.
Through their nurses, youth workers, and hospital units, they provide specialised care and support so young people with cancer can live their lives to the fullest, during and after treatment.
When cancer tears your teens apart, Teenage Cancer Trust helps pick up the pieces.

There are lots of different signs and symptoms of cancer. This World Cancer Day we’re sharing Teenage Cancer Trust’s information on the five most common signs of cancer in young people aged 13 – 24.

• Lumps and swellings
• Unexplained tiredness
• Mole changes
• Persistent pain
• Unexplained weight change

It’s really important to get checked out if you have any of these symptoms – especially if they last for a while and you can’t explain them.
It doesn’t necessarily mean you have cancer, but you should speak to your GP if you’re worried.

Our teenage and young adult years are a unique and defining time in so many ways.
When cancer puts this under threat, Teenage Cancer Trust is there to help young people through it with their expert nurses and youth workers, and dedicated hospital units.
But before Teenage Cancer Trust, there was no such thing as specialist cancer care for this age group. If you got cancer aged 13-24, you’d either be treated alongside younger children or much older adults.
Cancer care wasn’t made for young people – and they knew this wasn’t right. That’s why Teenage Cancer Trust kicked off in 1990, and why they’re still here now.
