Radio Mount Vernon Launches GoFundMe to Raise £500 During 12-Hour 'Summer Spectacular' Broadcast Marathon
NORTHWOOD, Middlesex — 18 May 2026 — Radio Mount Vernon (Registered Charity No. 289445), the dedicated hospital broadcasting service for Mount Vernon Hospital in Northwood, has officially set a target to raise £500 via its new GoFundMe campaign. The fundraising drive builds momentum ahead of its major Summer Spectacular event on Saturday 29 August 2026, which will see a dedicated team of volunteers go live for a gruelling 12 hours straight from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM to keep the station live on air.
Operating entirely on public generosity, Radio Mount Vernon serves as a vital bedside companion at Mount Vernon Hospital. The 100% voluntary service actively works to reduce patient anxiety, and combat isolation, and boost mental health through tailored entertainment and friendly voices. Meeting the £500 goal will directly assist in operating costs, and purchase equipment for the station.
The highly anticipated Summer Spectacular will be packed with interactive content, allowing listeners to call or write in to shape the broadcast.
"Medical teams care for the body, but hospital radio cares for the mind," said Sean Bilton, the event organiser on behalf of Radio Mount Vernon. "This marathon is a chance for our community to come together, request their favourite songs, share stories out on air, and help us ensure no patient has to feel alone during their hospital stay. Raising £500 will make a massive difference to our operations."
