Terrific news! After we highlighted a hugely important MG ZT that was in imminent danger of being lost forever, MGE follower Chris Horton has stepped in to rescue the car!

Chris has previously restored several basket cases, most recently a Rover SD1, and we’re absolutely thrilled that “Tilly” will live again.

A donor vehicle has been sourced to replace the parts that have been lost, but if anyone knows the whereabouts of the XPower 200 badge or can make a replica, or can assist with a boot spoiler or NSF driveshaft, let us know and we’ll pass your details onto Chris.

We can’t wait to feature the finished car in a future issue of MG Enthusiast. Well done, Chris! We’ll bring our ZT press car over to meet it when it’s back on the road.

Another day and another historic ZT looks like it’s about to meet its maker.

We’ve had it confirmed from someone who was there at the time that this was the former company car of MG Rover Managing Director Kevin Howe, and used to wear the number plate 7155 MG, which corresponds with the story below, of the car in its happier days.

What a crying shame to lose another historically important Z Car - unless you’re feeling brave and it can be released from scrap.

Kevin Howe was a controversial figure, of course, but this is a rare car from a fascinating period of MG Rover’s history, and it’s devastating to lose it.
