Beacon Films CIC Beacon Films CIC supports the talents and creativity of disabled and neurodivergent filmmakers and exhibitors.

Beacon Films is a multi-award winning production company of disabled, autistic and neurodivergent filmmakers. Our unique approach leads to films that are as memorable and entertaining as they are informative and awareness-raising. Through our training, we enable learning disabled, disabled, autistic and neurodivergent people to discover and develop filmmaking skills and talents. Working alongside

industry mentors, our most experienced filmmakers take part in professional commissions, working with clients and creative partner agencies to produce outstanding work that is shown all over the world.

The award-winning BFI Film Academy, delivered by Beacon Films, starts again in October 2025!

Are you a disabled or neurodivergent young person who loves film?

Would you like to make and star in your own film?

To qualify you must live in North East England and be aged:
- 16 - 19 or
- 20 - 25, if you have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP)

No experience? No problem! We will show you how to use cameras, sound and music to create your own film!

We have 12 FREE places available.

Dartmouth Films The Stimming Pool (12a) is an exciting new release film created by a collective of autistic filmmakers, The Neurocultures Collective, using a collaborative filmmaking model and exploring neurodivergent perspectives.

We're really excited to be working with Brewery Arts in Kendal, who are hosting a number of Relaxed Screenings this week just in time to celebrate Autism Acceptance month!

First up are screenings of Dartmouth Films The Stimming Pool (12a) - an exciting new release fantasy/ documentary film created by a collective of autistic filmmakers, The Neurocultures Collective, using a collaborative filmmaking model. The Stimming Pool

There's also a Relaxed Screening of Modern Films Memoir of a Snail (15) a stop motion animated film for adults which was Oscar® nominated for Best Animated Feature. The film is a charming and offbeat tale of life’s ups and downs 🐌
