Art lovers and history enthusiasts are in for a treat this April as the Rhoose and District History Society hosts a captivating illustrated talk by Dr Jonathan Hicks. Entitled ‘Life is My Canvas’, the presentation will explore the remarkable life and career of Barry-born artist Margaret Lindsay Williams.

Renowned for her portraits of royalty, film stars, and even a US president, Williams was also a celebrated war artist. Her impressive body of work captured the faces of high society while reflecting the profound impact of global conflict on her generation.

The event takes place on Friday 25 April 2025 at 7pm at Rhoose Community Centre, Stewart Road, CF62 3EZ.

There’s a small entry fee of £2 per person to cover costs, and a collection on the night will raise funds for the Margaret Lindsay Williams Headstone Appeal – a worthy cause honouring her enduring legacy.

Welsh Life

We launched Welsh Life Magazine many moons ago. We are passionate about our beautiful country and the people living and working in it. We are champions of local, independent businesses in Wales. It’s no secret we’re no fans of chains and supermarkets. We believe the individual character of any country, county, village, town or city comes from within, not a conglomeration of ‘brands’ that have been cloned around the country. We're not a franchise either - how rude to even suggest it! - we’re a home grown, family-owned, compact and bijou publishing company. We aim to spend at least 95% of our turnover back into the Welsh economy. To date we have surpassed this target every year. Wales is a beautiful country and we want to ensure it stays that way, both culturally, spiritually and environmentally.
