Exeter gardeners are being invited to apply for a chance to feature in a new TV wildlife programme.

Plimsoll Studios are looking for gardens across the UK to feature in a premium wildlife series for a public service broadcaster with filming set to take place during late 2026 and 2027.

Gardeners don’t need to be gardening or wildlife experts but just have a passion for their gardens and a curiosity about the wildlife on their doorstep.

Teignmouth folks and neighbours!

From August 23-30 2026, people around the world will take part in the International Swim With Gaza, a global week of solidarity with the children of Tantesh Swimming Academy as they celebrate the final swim of their free swimming programme.

Swim with Gaza is a child-driven project inspired and motivated by the free Children Swimming Initiative, headed by Amjed Tantish, who has been teaching children in Gaza to swim since the late 1990s. All the usual pools have been destroyed so he and his team have built natural pools, on the beaches in Gaza, that he now uses to teach.

To show your solidarity, bring the kids and join swimmers (and
paddlers) of all ages on Teignmouth beach on August 30 at 10am. Meeting on the beach opposite St Michael’s church. See you there. To find out more, and to donate, visit swimwithgaza.com.

A Very Happy Moment for Leather School®

We’re feeling super excited here at Leather School® - we’ve been featured in Reconnect Magazine! It’s so good to remember our roots, reflect on the journey and see how far we’ve come.

To see our craft, our students, and the spirit of the Leather School® community shared in print is something we’ll treasure for a long time and is definitely going on the wall! It’s beautifully written and presented - on the centrefold page no less! You can pick up a copy for free in loads of shops around Devon. So, if you spot it, do grab one. And read all about my story from being an apprentice to leading Leather School.

This feature has landed at the perfect time, just as we’ve wrapped up our first fully booked and wonderfully successful Tooling Course. The energy in the workshop was incredible - mallets tapping, swivel knives carving, everyone completely absorbed in the flow of making (biscuit consumption was down on account of their total absorption). It’s been such a joy to add tooling to our repertoire, and it’s already a firm favourite.
