The platform hosting my Blog that has been my home online since 2007 (Typepad) is closing at the end of the month. Digital is not permanent and its legacy will only be broken links. Remnants of the moments marked by my limited writing have been hastily archived thanks to Daniel Thornton and I suppose the Meta Algorithm for alerting me. The email notice had slipped between the cracks of my inbox.

So if you wanna go read it or skim the last nearly 20 yrs of my life online from workshopping Edinburgh for Equity in 2007 to taking a VR musical to Fringe in 2024 with Brendan Bradley you have until Sept 30th. Lots of platforms, performances, conferences and livestreams.

Salutations Performance Creatives through out the UK. If you are an Equity member I hope your ballot papers for the election of General Secretary have dropped on your door mat.

This election takes place every 5 years. It is a postal ballot. It is separate from the member elections for committees, council and union president. This is the equivalent of mandating a company’s CEO. The board have approved the continued tenure of Paul Fleming but the work force gets the final say. That is Equity Members. This is huge.

For many terms the General Secretary stood unopposed. In 2020 during the dawn of the pandemic a General Secretary election was triggered for the first time in 15 yrs when Christine Payne retired. 2025 is the first opportunity to recognise and support the unions direction at a managerial level or vote for change.

I did not have to organise hustings this time round. It was thanks to Sandi Toksvig that a high profile hustings was possible in 2020, at a time when a new leader was needing profiling. Paul Fleming was elected and Simon Curtis is still a driving force in the union as regional organiser in Wales.

We forget those heightened times of unprecedented industrial uncertainty with sweeping lockdowns and zoom our only light in the darkness. What were you doing in April 2020? What are you doing now? Can you remember your life and your April 2019 self?

There has been a hustings for 2025 candidates. Hustings provide context on who you might afford your vote. In the light of Trump and lessons we hope the World electorate where mandate is the highest vote count wins… have we learnt… please watch and please vote.

ImmersiveX comes to CyberiaXR in Spatial.io and travels across the Metaverse with sessions in VRchat, Remio, Engage, Horizon, Raum, STYLY, MS Mesh and maybe a couple more.

IMMERSIVE X is a unique three-day digital event about the Metaverse that takes place entirely in Virtual Reality and can be accessed with a VR headset.

I’m speaking at Immersive X 2024. My session "Cybersalon’s CyberiaXR Café: A Cultural Icon Recreated in the Metaverse," is part of the Culture track and is scheduled for November 26th, 5:00 pm CET / 10:00 am CST.

Step into CyberiaXR, a digital recreation of the iconic 1994 39 Whitfield Street, London Cyberia internet café, and explore how this cultural institution has been reimagined in the metaverse.

The session is 45 minutes, with 30 minutes dedicated to content and 15 minutes reserved for Q&A. After the CyberiaXR session, feel free to use the space to connect with fellow attendees and attend ImmersiveXR programmed activities.
