We’ve stepped back in time, with a visit to the fantastic Highland Folk Museum! 🥰
One of the most fun and interesting museums we’ve ever experienced! Here’s why…
This immersive, open-air museum has over 35 buildings to explore, ranging from the peat-burning mud huts of the 1700’s to the not-too-distant 1950’s — From schools, cottages and shops, to farmlands, post offices and more 🐮
It’s wild to think that the majority of these buildings were once real and functioning, and that they’ve been transported to the museum site to be enjoyed long into the future 🤯
A real taste of Highland life through the ages! 🏴
Not to mention the CUTEST trio of Highland cows 🥹 We wanted to take them all home with us.
👩🏻🦼 Accessibility: Overall it was very good. The site is HUGE (about a mile long), so make sure you dress comfortably and for the weather, and fully charge your wheelchair batteries before going. The paths are mostly pressed-gravel, which was a bit bumpy but perfectly manageable, although a bit steep in places. Some of the buildings have steps, but I’d say I could get in about 70% of them. Blue Badge parking is free and there is an accessible toilet on site 🚽
