Dark FM Original 1992
Dark fm originated in 1992 as an illegal pirate radio station in the booming rave scene of that era. Started by DJ Mr P a front runner, organiser & DJ of many of the legendary illegal free party’s in Oxfordshire.
Paul found a home transmitting the station in the Banbury area. With a small group of local DJs. A show would air every Saturday night & started to grow a huge fan base. Andy (DJ Drew) who was spending weekends playing out at early free party’s & club nights took up residency along side Mr P in the latter part of 92. The show was transmitting from a number of different locations in & around Banbury week to week also occasionally transmitting from Witney Oxfordshire, Paul & Andy’s home town. 1993 saw Dark FM grow with with its own HQ near Banbury & featuring friends DJ Lee, Spinback & Quiff (Total Science) DJ Fallout & the Late great DJ Tango all dropping sets on the show.
Dark FM continued transmitting shows every week before eventually being shut down by the DTI in 1995. Now in 2018 The station is back relabelled Dark FM Original & using Facebook live as a foundation to livestream shows every Sunday from 2pm. Original DJ’s Mr P & Drew return alongside DJ Vinoli & DJ Su***de to make up the new Dark FM group. The shows now showcase the whole spectrum of the evolution of rave to jungle to drum & bass. Also including occasional house & garage mixes from resident DJ’s & guests
