This weeks’ theme for is CHALLENGE so we wanted to tell you about a design challenge we were set by .co.uk to design a new game for the Hamishcon indie games market! So I’m happy to introduce Tricky Landing 🤡 💥 With artwork by our 6 year old daughter 😊
I’ve been introduced to a bunch of really fun games by Ben, mostly from the Tokyo Games Market where no design idea is out of bounds. Trick-taking is one of my favourite mechanics and often used in TGM games, so we wanted to bring our own unique spin to trick-taking. By combining it with dexterity!
In Tricky Landing you are part of a circus and firing clowns out of cannons to try and land on a target card. Rather than play the card in the table as with other card games, you have to actually THROW the card at the target! The order the cards land in dictates how the trick is resolved. If you’re the only player to miss the target, you set trump for next round. But if more than one player misses, you all take negative points! Check out the vid of showing how it’s done!
It was great to see Tricky Landing part of the Hamishcon indie games market which a bunch of other fun and interesting designs. A limited amount will go on the .co.uk webstore soon and we’ll have a bunch at next year.
The feedback has been great for Tricky Landing so we’re going to push on with a wider release with it available as an add-on the Roller Disco Kickstarter next year 😊
