It’s almost time to wrap up… or get wrapping, depending on your to-do list.
The last few weeks have been busy.
Client work comes first, always, so my own content has (as usual) taken a back seat while I made sure everyone else’s was planned, posted and done properly.

This week in particular has been a juggle:
MOT
orthodontist appointments (the teen’s braces are off 🎉)
trying to still get to the gym
and generally keeping all the plates spinning

My trusty helper, ChatGPT, has been involved in many things along the way…
Sadly not the chores.
No bed making.
No laundry.
And the food shop for the big day is still looming...

So I want to know if you could hand any task, festive or otherwise, over to ChatGPT, what would it be?

WFH confession time: there are days I speak to nobody.
(Teenagers don’t count. They just grunt and ask what’s for dinner.)

So getting out to a co-working session on Monday with the Lomond Business Group felt like a proper boost.

Cameron House was looking stunning- festive lights, that Loch Lomond view, and actual adults to chat to… absolute luxury. Loved catching up with Ashlee Lally, Jenna Ferguson, Virgine Ferguson, Lizzie Donaldson and a few new faces too.

It’s amazing what a change of scene (and the chance to hear another human voice!) can do for your energy.

If you work from home… what do you miss the most?
I’m genuinely curious- the people? The buzz? The boundary between work and home?

A woman I know asked me in the gym this week,
“So do you do this for fun?”

Honestly… if strength training was fun, gyms would have long waiting lists and Qs outside.

I don’t go because it’s fun.
I go because I’m in my late 40's, my metabolism now needs a formal invitation to get involved, and I’d quite like to be able to continue carrying the shopping bags and lifting my nephew in the years to come.

The hardest bit isn’t the actual workout.
It’s persuading myself to leave the house when it’s blowing a gale…
or ignoring the guilt of taking a whole hour twice a week just for me…
or pretending I don’t hear the little voice going “We should just go home and open the latop or put on another washing!"
What actually keeps me consistent? (it's only been 4 months in this streak so far)
A great coach who gets it and a WhatsApp group of brilliant women I’ve never met in real life who hype each other up through rain, hormones, and general life chaos.
Honestly, they deserve medals.

I live my life in Instagram and all I see is eat your protein! sleep more! reduce stress! lift heavy! In reality there's a massive to-do list and a child who needs a lift to and from football training and a teenager needing fed.

So no, it’s not fun. It’s future-proofing. And future-me better appreciate it.
Is anyone else out there sticking with something that’s “not fun” but you know it’ll matter later?
Tell me I’m not the only one.

Does anyone else feel like late November has it's own kind of chaos?
The to-do lists get longer.
The days get darker.
Black Friday pings start multiplying.
And suddenly you’re trying to keep the house, the kids, the work, the life… all moving in roughly the right direction.

Every year I think, “Next November I’ll be more organised.”
And every year I’m reminded that life doesn’t really care about my plans.

Running a business at this time of year feels a bit like doing the big shop while hungry -everything feels urgent, but half of it doesn’t actually matter.

What does seem to matter is giving yourself a bit of grace and remembering that you can’t do it all at once. No one can. Not even the people who look like they’re absolutely nailing it on LinkedIn. (Don't forget social media is lots of smoke and mirrors)

So if your brain is fried, your inbox is wild, your kids need a hundred different things, and you’re living off cups of tea you forgot you made… you’re not on your own.

Here’s the question I’m asking myself this week:
What’s the one thing I can actually manage, and what can wait without the world falling apart?

I dont have my answer quite yet , if you’ve found your answer, tell me

This month marks six years since I went all-in on being self-employed… which feels absolutely mental to say out loud. 🤯

And here’s me being totally honest:
I still have those days where I think,
“Should I just go and get a proper job?”
(A payslip and an office kitchen, and another adult to chat wiht over a tea break does sound appealing some weeks…)

But then I remember everything that’s gone into getting here- the client work, the content, the invoices, the mum life, the “where’s my football top?!” chaos- all done by me.

And I still wouldn’t give up the flexibility.
Being able to nip out when I need to, juggle the kids, take a random day off when life decides to be life… that’s priceless.

The boys might be older now (prelims incoming 😬), but their needs haven’t magically disappeared. Mum guilt honestly has no expiry date.

And the funniest part?
You’d think after six years I’d have some big, profound business lesson to share.

Nope.
Still learning.
Still winging it.
Still Googling “is this deductible?” like it’s my full-time job.
Still figuring out the whole business AND life combo.

Everyone’s already posting their shiny “2025 reflections” and “Q1 planning” stuff… not me. I wont be looking at that til January,

It’s dark, everyone’s skint, the motivation is hibernating and everyone’s living off leftover Quality Street-and I’ve got a holiday booked anyway. My only plan for January is to keep my clients ticking over and enjoy the break.

So tell me…
What’s one thing you learned about yourself or your business this year?
Big, small, funny, serious- anything.

Pop it in the comments or DM me, I genuinely love hearing your stories

Consistency beats perfection every time. You decide what that consistency looks like - what can you commit to week in week out for your posting schedule. That might be 2 or 3 posts a week- which is ideal, show up, week after week - not just when you’re quiet/ launching something / selling something.

This is a better way to grow your community on social. I’ve seen accounts I follow who’ve not posted to their grid since August or September - stories are good but they only line for 24 hours to existing followers .

So this is your reminder - consistent posting is better than that 1 perfectly polished massively edited fancy reel.
Post the damn thing.

My story

Hi I’m Angela the voice behind Clydeside Social.

In 2018 in this ever changing fast paced world I found myself concerned for the stability of my career in retail management. My future seemed uncertain as the high street dwindles around us. I decided to find an opportunity that would re ignite my passion for learning and helping others and signed up for the Diploma in strategic social media management with the accredited Digital Mums. 11 months later I am starting out as a freelance social media manager after running @ClydesideStyle a grass roots social media campaign.

Clydeside Social is born ..... I offer a range of services from social media management, blog writing to training and everything in between. I am passionate about helping businesses succeed in their Social media. Here you will find tips and links to how to improve your business’ social media platforms, as well as a few motivational quotes- because lets face it we all need that (and cake!).

If you want to chat about how I might be able to help with your Social media then get in touch, I may just be what your business needs.
