Several eons ago, Drunkenstein would disgrace the stages of the Oxford music scene with their chaotic-evil prog punk shenanigans. Shortly before breaking up they recorded most of an album that ultimately didn’t see the light of day.
15 years later, “Drift” has been unearthed from those sessions. Its main writer, Owen Jones, has since passed on, making the anniversary and the song itself all the more poignant.
Having been polished up and made fit for human consumption, “Drift” is the last document of the band and a fitting tribute to Owen, whose warped creativity runs through the song. To honour his memory, proceeds from the single will be donated to Cancer Research.
“Drift” is available now from all major streaming platforms.
