"I really hope everything is going well for you this summer, although I know how the school holidays can be for many families in our SEND community, particularly if a child has extreme behaviour.
Does spending time with your child sometimes feel like you’re walking on eggshells? - Does almost every attempt at talking to your child end up going wrong, often ending up with conflict, difficult behaviour outbursts or raised voices? Do you wish your child could tell you how they felt, or wish you could communicate more meaningfully with your non-verbal child?
Newbold Hope VCB Info next webinar - How to Improve Communication to Successfully Connect with your Child -That’s why we’re running a series of 10 live online webinars this, and our next one, on Thursday evening, 14th August, is all about how to communicate in a way that connects you more closely with your SEND child, without conflict, misunderstandings or behaviour escalation.
It's on Thursday, 14th August 2025 at 8.00 pm – 10.00 pm
Cost £10.00 – which includes access to the recording when it’s edited and ready to watch

It's been co-designed with families especially for parents of all SEND children, whether they are non-verbal, selectively mute or great talkers - This session has been co-designed with families from our own community, and it’s suitable for parents of children and teenagers who are non-verbal, who present with selective mutism, or who are highly articulate.
We’ll be sharing over 130 practical strategies you can use straight away - As well as sharing masses of information about how to make communication easier for you and your child, we’re also including over 130 practical, easy-to-implement strategies which come from the real-life experience of families who have already used them successfully with their own children. This stuff works!
Here are just some of the topics we’ll be covering during our two hours together: -

How easily communication can go wrong and how to put it right
Why even the most articulate SEND children can struggle with aspects of communication and how to help
How to communicate more meaningfully with non-verbal children
How to best support children with selective-mutism
Some common communication differences in SEND children
How rigid thinking can affect communication
The impact of parental vocal tones and how to ensure your voice sounds emotionally neutral
How to use social stories, visual aids and objects of reference to help augment understanding
How to handle offensive language
Declarative Language – what it is and how it can help
Why children struggle to talk about their feelings and what you can ask instead
Here’s just some of the lovely feedback we’ve had from parents who have attended our previous sessions of this webinar: -
“Many great ideas that I feel keen to explore. Uplifting encouragement to improve listening, understanding and relationships with my children.”
“Thank you. I’ve been feeling at a loss as to how to support my daughter and this webinar has given me many ways to listen to and support her to feel heard, and to build her self-esteem and wellbeing by supportive communication.”
“Just thank you, this was golden. And thank you for being so very lovely towards us as parents, you're right, we don't get told we're wonderful enough.”
The session recording will be available afterwards
This session could be exactly the breakthrough you need to reduce the battles at home. I really hope so, and we’d love to have you on board on Thursday evening. However, if that time doesn’t work for you, you won’t miss out because we’ll be recording the session and sending it out to everyone who has booked.
In the meantime, wishing you the very best of everything, and hoping you manage to find the time and resources to look after you too.
Please take care, warmest wishes,
Yvonne
