NEWS: Elton John announced as first Rock in Rio 2026 headliner, returning to Brazil after nearly a decade
Rock in Rio has confirmed its first name for the 2026 edition: Elton John will headline the Palco Mundo (World Stage) on 7 September, marking his only Brazilian show of the year and his first performance in the country since the end of his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour.

The announcement opens the countdown to the festival, with Rock in Rio Card tickets — which secure entry before the full lineup is revealed — going on sale 9 December via Ticketmaster Brasil.

Elton says:

“I’ve always had a fantastic time whenever we’ve played in Brazil. I didn’t manage to get to South America for the farewell tour, so when Rock In Rio asked me to play, I said yes immediately. I love my Brazilian fans, they hold such a special place in my heart… We’re playing brilliantly and sounding as good as we ever have. I really cannot wait to return to Brazil next summer.”

The performance arrives two years after Elton wrapped up touring and earned EGOT status making him one of the few artists to hold all four major awards (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony). His show is expected to draw on six decades of music, including classics such as Rocket Man, Your Song, Tiny Dancer, I’m Still Standing and Candle in the Wind.

Rock in Rio 2026 Dates

Cidade do Rock – Rio de Janeiro Olympic Park
4, 5, 6, 7, 11, 12 and 13 September 2026

The festival has grown into one of the most influential music events in Brazil since its first edition in 1985. Recent years have seen Rock in Rio expand its reach with blockbuster headliners, record-breaking ticket demand, and a programming model that regularly sells out months before full lineups are announced.

Rock in Rio Card

- On sale: 9 December

- Platform: Ticketmaster Brasil

- Guarantees access before the lineup is fully revealed

- Fans choose their festival date later

Rock in Rio encourages fans to register ahead of time to speed up purchase processing. In 2024, all 180,000 cards sold out in 2 hours, with demand exceeding availability by hundreds of thousands.

Elton John — beyond the stage

Across nearly 60 years, Elton has sold more than 327 million records, played over 4,600 shows in more than 80 countries, and authored the best-selling physical single in history (Candle in the Wind, 1997). He has also directed his influence offstage, raising over US$450 million through the Elton John AIDS Foundation, supporting programs across four continents.

His return to Brazil marks not just a one-off performance, but a rare moment from one of music’s most enduring artists in a country where he has long drawn feverish crowds.

NEW MUISC: Rifle announce self-titled debut album + share new single “No King”
London punk outfit Rifle have announced their debut self-titled album, due 16th January 2026 via YEAR0001. They’ve also released its lead single, “No King”, a track built on barked vocals, stomping bass and a steady sense that someone’s about to pick a fight. It’s loud, fast, and clearly meant to be shouted back at them from a crowd.

Watch the video for “No King” below:

Rifle’s beginnings are pretty straightforward: Max (vocals) and Ross (bass) met working dead-end jobs and started making noise together after shifts in Camden. That grew into a full band when Flynn (drums), Albert and Louis (guitars) joined in — more a group of mates than a master plan. They’ve since jumped their way into supports with The Chisel, The Chats and a run of festivals including Reading & Leeds, Rebellion, Venezia Hardcore Fest and Sjock.

Speaking about their album, the band explain:

“RIFLE centres on the working-class experience. Some of the choruses and vocal hooks were inspired by the chants you’d hear on football terraces, with that natural sing-along quality.”

“We also wanted to capture the identity of being a London band… Groups like C**kney Rejects and C**k Sparrer may not have a big overlap in sound, but their lyrical focus and ethos define them as London bands. That’s something we were aiming to achieve as well.”

The record was produced alongside Jonah, who the band credit for pushing ideas, encouraging feedback between members and making sure every track felt like the five of them were in the same room, even when recording separately.

Their debut LP keeps things blunt and heavy: political without speeches, gritty without pretending, and always chasing that terrace-chant simplicity. Tracks like “No King”, “Protest”, and “United State” go straight for the throat of the institutions they’re sick of, without disguising who they’re talking about.

NEW MUSIC: Iona Zajac releases debut album Bang
Scottish songwriter Iona Zajac (https://www.ionazajac.com/) has released her debut album Bang, a raw and unguarded record that cuts straight into themes of power, boundaries, memory and the messy ways people protect themselves. I listened to this album without hearing a single track prior to it and was absolutely blown away by the rawness and emotion throughout, with a personal highlight being “Anton” which appears about half-way through the album, meticulously placed to deliver a gut punch:

Zajac has found her audience the long way around, through intense solo performances and recent tours singing and playing with The Pogues, a run that has taken her from Glasgow and London venues to Terminal 5 in New York, with Sydney Opera House dates ahead in 2026. Away from those huge rooms, her own shows are stark and gripping; just her voice, guitar, and a refusal to over-explain.

Bang leans into that same clarity. The record shifts between alt-folk, sparse pop and darker, sharper arrangements, but everything points back to the writing. It tackles harm without romanticising it, pokes at desire without apology, and drops into surreal humour when emotion gets too heavy. The songs don’t rush to make peace with anything. Some sit in discomfort, some laugh at it.

Speaking about the process, Zajac says:

“Sometimes people get a little too confident in who they think you are and project that onto you. And it’s like babe we’re not married, I didn’t ask for your input so let me do me and you can do you.”

That straight-forwardness runs through the whole album. Bang is less about turning pain into poetry and more about letting things exist without disguise.

The album is out now via Post Electric.

NEWS: Lily Allen announces biggest headline tour to date after HUGE demand.
Lily Allen’s comeback has shifted from “huge” to “absolutely massive.” After her UK theatre tour sold out in minutes (trust us, the queue for these tickets was not fun), she’s confirmed she’ll return for a run of arena dates across the UK and Ireland in June 2026, marking the biggest headline shows of her career so far.

It’s all powered by the runaway success of her new album West End Girl, which has already racked up more than 150 million streams and earned her a third straight Top 5 album in the UK.

The show — Lily Allen Performs West End Girl — will see her play the album in full, track by track, exactly as it unfolds on record. A full playback, but bigger, bolder and built for crowds who clearly want more than a front-row seat. She’ll also bring the album to Mighty Hoopla in London’s Brockwell Park on May 30th, which has already sold out in record time which organisers and fans have suggested is solely down to Allen’s headline slot.

Adding to the momentum, Lily has just been announced as a musical guest on Saturday Night Live, performing on December 13th in the US. After a turbulent personal life over the last few years, it’s a pleasure it see Lily’s career getting the recognition it’s always deserved

NEWS: Anolah shares electrifying new single “Slack Line” featuring Hak Baker
London’s own genre-defier Anolah has dropped a jolt of adrenaline with her new single “Slack Line”, teaming up with acclaimed singer and poet Hak Baker. The track lands via Speedy Wunderground, slotting neatly into their iconic 7” Single Series.

Raised between sound systems, city-to-city moves and a revolving cast of musicians and characters, Anolah grew up on the edges of underground culture before soaking fully into it. Those early years of late nights, makeshift stages and mismatched influences clearly never left. Now rooted in London, she funnels all that chaos and community spirit into her songwriting and instrumental work, where nothing ever sits in one genre for long.

Produced by Dan Carey, “Slack Line” throws everything into the mixer. Soul brushes up against jazz, R&B melts into punk, hip hop tumbles through jungle, dub and breakbeat. The result is a punchy, under-three-minute surge of bass and glitching electronics, snapping with confidence. Hak Baker jumps in with a sharp-tongued contribution, and the pair collide in a wild, shouted chorus that sounds like it’s been yanked straight from a rush-hour protest or a basement rave:

“Yours and yours will be yours / Mines will be mines / Rats don’t get cats eyes…”

Speaking about the track, Anolah keeps it honest:

“Sometimes people get a little too confident in who they think you are and project that onto you. And it’s like babe we’re not married, I didn’t ask for your input so let me do me and you can do you.”

It’s a message delivered with teeth, swagger and a bassline built for standing your ground.
