*NEWS UPDATE: Kintampo Community Center – A Call to Unity and Development*

Over 50 years ago, the Kintampo Community Center was built as a hub for social, cultural, and developmental activities. After decades of service, it became weak and unfit for purpose.

The then Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Isaac Baffoe Ameyaw, boldly demolished the old structure to pave way for an ultra-modern, multi-purpose Community Center that would serve both the present and future generations.

To ensure everyone was part of this vision, he initiated Kintampo Homecoming, bringing together sons and daughters of Kintampo—home and abroad—to contribute towards community development projects.

Unfortunately, due to political transitions, the momentum of this noble project was disrupted. Today, the dream of a modern Community Center still awaits fulfillment.

This is a call to all stakeholders, traditional authorities, opinion leaders, political actors, youth groups, and development partners to rise above political lines and unite for the good of Kintampo.
The Community Center is not just a building—it is the soul of Kintampo, a place for identity, empowerment, and growth. Together, we can bring it back to life.

“Let’s rebuild the heart of Kintampo! The Community Center belongs to all of us—beyond politics, beyond divisions. It’s time to unite and make the dream of an ultra-modern Kintampo Community Center a reality".

*Atebubu–Kintampo Road: Good Road, Poor Drainage – A Growing Concern*

The newly constructed Atebubu–Kintampo road has greatly relieved motorists and residents who have long yearned for a smooth and accessible highway. The road is in good shape and has eased transportation, boosting trade, farming activities, and the movement of people within the Bono East Region and beyond.

However, one critical issue threatens to undermine this major development: the poor drainage system. Many portions of the drainage structures along the stretch are already showing signs of weakness and damage. With the rains setting in, some drains have started eroding, raising fears of flooding and eventual destruction of parts of the road if urgent measures are not taken.

A good road without strong drainage cannot stand the test of time. Protecting this road means protecting livelihoods, safety, and the millions of cedis invested in its construction.

We therefore appeal to all relevant stakeholders, especially policymakers and duty bearers, to take urgent steps to fix the drainage problems before they escalate.

*Kintampo Declares War on Illegal Mining*

The Kintampo Municipal Security Council (MUSEC), led by the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Isaac Donkor, has arrested some illegal miners operating along the Black Volta in the Kintampo Municipal area.

Hon. Donkor has made it clear that illegal mining will not be entertained in the municipality, reaffirming his commitment to protecting the lives of residents and preserving our natural resources.

He stressed that illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey, is a dangerous activity that destroys farmlands, contaminates rivers, and continues to claim lives across the country.
The Black Volta, one of Ghana’s precious water sources, must be safeguarded for both present and future generations.

The MCE assured the public that his administration will work closely with security agencies and stakeholders to sustain the fight against galamsey.
