On 24th September 2003 Mike & Lin were given the devastating news that their little girl, Sophie, had a tumour that had spread from her left kidney to her heart via her IVC* (Inferior Vena Cava). It was decided that Sophie would stay over night at Wi******er Hospital before her first visit to Piam Brown, Southampton Hospitals dedicated child oncology & haematology ward.

*IVC- This is a major vein that returns blood from the lower part of the body (below the diaphragm) including the legs, pelvis, and abdominal organs, back to the heart to be pumped to the lungs for oxygenation.
