Only one week to go now! The St John's Summer Fête is next Saturday, 26 July. Come along and join the fun!
Many of the stalls would be grateful for contributions for sale - if you can bake a cake or two, if you have made jam, marmalade or chutney, if you are clearing out toys, then the Cake, Produce and Toy stalls would be glad of these. Do you have a bottle for the Tombola? Your donations would be gratefully accepted. Otherwise, just come along and enjoy the Fête - something for everyone, for all age groups. Refreshments available, lunchtime barbecue, and liquid sustinance at the Pimm's Tent.

🔥 High Fire Risk Alert 🔥

With the hot, dry weather continuing, the risk of grass and wildfires is extremely high across the Box Moor Trust estate.

Please help us protect our precious wildlife and landscapes by following these simple but vital rules:

🚫 No BBQs or campfires
🚭 Dispose of ci******es responsibly
🚯 Take litter home – glass and bottles can start fires
🐾 Keep dogs under control and stay on marked paths

Let’s work together to keep our countryside safe for everyone.

Our Dacorum Foodbank is running critically low on several items that go into the emergency parcels ❗ Please consider donating – it can make a big difference for local people facing food poverty 💛

We may all be too hot, sleep deprived and a little bit grumpy but no time to lose, we have a RALLY to organise and WE NEED YOU!!!! 😜🥳

Our pre-procession catch up, preperations and Art for Activism ✌️ banner painting show down is locked in for:

Thursday 17th July 7.30-9.30pm at the Boxmoor Playhouse, St Johns Road.

This will be a fun, relaxed evening unleashing the paintbrushes and expressing ourselves with some no-messin' Bold statement signs! Shrinking violets we are not! 💪

Please email me [email protected] to let me know you will be attending.

RALLY TO SAVE HEATH BARN will follow on Saturday 19th July
10.45am meet for 11am start (lasting about an hour)
Blackbirds Moor (opposite the barn) followed by a circular clockwise procession around the moor. I'll need help distributing flyers en route, shaking a maraka/ tambourine and trying to promote Heath Barn and our campaign in a peaceful/ rhythmical way 💃

Would also love to hear from people who have instruments that can make a bit of a toot- let's reminisce and rekindle the buildings musical roots! Let's allow music to catch on the breeze to encourage curiosity and questions from passers by en route 🎶

Please let me know if you will be joining us so I'm not stood on my tod by commenting below or emailing me. I need to alert the police to likely numbers so this is quite important 👮‍♀️

Hope to see lots of familiar faces and new ones too.

Press has been invited and photos will be taken.

We are all preparing for Christmas now, in various ways. The chances are we will all overeat and overindulge....... Music at St Johns have the solution for us: the annual New Year's Eve 10k Run/5k Walk. This is an excellent way to get active again after the festivities. The route starts and ends at St John's Church and proceeds along the canal towpath. It is suitable for buggies (perhaps with a few adaptations and especially if it is muddy!) and it is definitely recommended to bring your four-legged friends. They will be in good company.

Only 5 days to go until we will be joined by Boxmoor and South Hill school choirs, for music, mulled wine and lights...plus a very special guest!! Huge thanks to Christmas Tree Place, Berkhamsted for our beautiful tree, and to Boxmoor Village Store for their generous sponsorship. We can't wait to see you all on Saturday 🎄

Don't miss our Christmas Tree Festival, 13 to 17 December! Each year we try to do even better than the last year, so put the dates in you diary now and make sure you come along and see the results of our efforts.

Advertising in Boxmoor Direct

I have been publishing Boxmoor Direct since 2005 and offer local businesses the opportunity to promote their services in a quality publication to the people who really want to use them - the locals. The cost to advertise is kept low, meaning businesses can afford to have a sustained marketing campaign over a number of months, giving them the best response.

A few good reasons to place your ad...

Great Value - Prices are kept low so that small businesses such as yours can make the most of your advertising budget and appear over a number of issues. Research shows repeat advertising works better at increasing sales than one-off ads ... our advice is ‘keep it smaller for longer’. Check out our prices here

Results - Around 80% of the businesses in the directory are repeat advertisers and some have been in every issue since 2005 - proof that Boxmoor Direct really does work for them.
